I know the organic guys reuse their soil but I feed using Flora Nova grow/bloom and I'm wondering if I could reuse my soilless mix? The mix is 66% perlite, 33% peatmoss, and dolomite lime. It's been sitting outside, will I need to sterilize it, and how would I?

A little bird on a tree told me if you use hgryozyme or whatever sensizyme stuff that its ok to reuse soil b/c it eats up old roots. Truth? or stoned bird?

i've pulled all the roots out already, it wasn't too extensive they are males that i pulled out early. i don't see what would be bad since it's supposed to be an inorganic medium right?

CEC, cation exchange capacity

Peat has a high CEC.
FN is pure ions, therefore the combo of peat and FN has high Adsorbtion due to CEC.

Maybe soak, flush, soak, flush in h20, or better like a steam bath to leach the adsorbed nutes.

Especially if yr dropping seedlings into the mix, juvenile clones would be better.

Well i would worry about the salts built up in the soil from using a synthetic fertilizer. But if its just peat i dont think it would hurt anything to try and leach it with hot water like inflorescence said.

peace

Flush, flush , flush....and amend it with some good premix and worm castings...

Truth.

flushing with warm water will help remove built up salts.

i would amend the soil before reuse, some of my favs are worm castings, compost, perlite, and a host of benificial microbes.
