Can I place a Split A/C in my garage?

Hello any help would be appreciated!

I am wondering if i can place the compressor in my garage and run the coil through the house to my room?

I am trying to keep everything contained in the house to avoid outside detection.

I have opted to go with Split A/C because I dont want to vent hot air 12 hrs a day during the winter which would be melting snow near the areas being vented outside of my house.

I was wondering if the built up exhaust in the garage would be harmful or would have any other negative effects?

I have read tons of posts on this site and this is my first time finally posting so any help is very much appreciated. Thank you

Do you have the room to build an insulated structure to house the compressor inside your garage? This would ensure optimum stealth operation. Proper intake and exhaust would be needed, but this can be done. There are also manufacturers of a/c systems these days with sound deadening boxes that house the compressors in the outside unit making for super stealth operation.

A mini split is as stealth as it gets. No one will hear it thats for sure. You could put the compressor in the garage but why? Are neighbors too close? Can the compressor be seen if its outside?
Remember, if its too cold outside the AC will not work properly. You did get one that can cool when the outside temps are low, right? What brand is it?

Is it possible to use this hot air as heat for the rest of your dwelling? This would make efficient use of your lights and cut down on a heating bill.

MSG- Yes I have extra room in my garage to house the structure. It is 20x20x17. Can I just run the ac inside of the garage without the exhaust systems?

Evlme2- I haven't bought one yet. But yes neighbors are close enough to see the box. And a landlord if he decides to get nosey enough.

Oga- Thank you for pointing that out to me it did give me some insight.

Basically I want to do a 4x 1000w setup in my basement. It is big and i plan on dedicating a 12x12 space for my setup. I am going to be running co2 so i would really like to do a closed growing environment. The ballasts will be located and cooled in a seperate room. The ambient room temp in around 60 degrees right now.
I want to cool the lights by using an inline fan and pulling from one side of the basement across the lights and out the other side of the basement. Will this raise my room temps alot by exhausting the heat from the lights back into the basement?
I do not have access to windows in the basement for intake or exhaust.
Could I just use a big dehumidifier and some fans since it is going into the winter months? I am really stuck on this part of my setup and it is preventing me from getting started until I can come up with a solution that will not affect the structure of the house. Since I am renting.
Thanks for the different ideas it really helps to get an outsiders perspective.

The heat will build up inside your garage, it would need to be vented outside.
If you want to run it during snow, you want a mini split capable of low outside operating temperatures. Small and quiet. Mount it on the roof, or behind a wood pile outside. They can be around 1ft x 3ft x 2ft so not very big.

Wherever you end up putting it I strongly advise you to get a Mr.Slim from Mitsubishi. They are the best money can buy and parts availability is a none issue.

If this is a big concern take a look at the big Kwikool portable AC's. Excel Air also has a new stealth series unit that looks very cool, it puts the compressor inside so only the evaporator is outdoors, and is small and super quiet. Not cheap though, but nothing good is.
