Can I finish my sativa's indoors?

Greetings. I've got a couple of sativa pheno's that I (unsucessfully) tried to flower under my 400W HPS. When I saw that they just were not going to bud, I moved 'em outside & they're now coming along pretty well.

However, they got started late. If they are not finished by the first freeze, I'm wondering if I could bring 'em inside, and put them back under that 400W HPS? The light obviously wasn't strong enough to initiate the flowering process but, now that it's begun, would the light be able to sustain the process until harvest?

The strain is most likely Mexican. The seeds came from a bag of surprisingly good, compressed weed. (I know - sounds like a contradiction of terms) I'm in Houston, TX so I would imagine that's the origin. I sent some cash to seedboutique about 3 weeks ago for some indoor strains but, no word yet as to the status of my order. That being the case, I really need to finish these Sativas, since they are my only source of Medicine.

Thanks in advance for sharing all of your first-hand knowlege. Peace...

Good lord! Have I offended someone around here? Is my thread in the wrong forum? Why the hell can't I get any replies?
I made the move from OG hoping for more "grown-up" feedback.
Looks like everyone's so grown-up they're too old to type anymore.
Oh well. Thanks anyway.

Sorry, actually your posts has been here for 1,5 hours....

Now I dont know what did you do wrong but a 400 watter should be enuf for any plant to start flowering you sure it was about the 400W light not the light cycle? did you put it on 12/12 for 2-3 weeks and just nothing happened?

I'd put it below the light and give it a go really see how it couldnt work under the 400w :)

Peace, Jah-Jah

Hey! I got someone's attention! Thanks for responding, Jah-Jah.

I vegged her under 24/7 flouro's for approx. 45 days. Moved her under the 400HPS @ 12-12 for 3 weeks. All I got was two sets of pistles every 2 inches or so. Extremely sparse. Within one week of going outdoors, she took off. I had this problem a few years ago with a bag-seed sativa, and the same thing happened when I put her outside. She took off and produced some of the best bud I've smoked. That one finished outside though, and it took her well over 75 days in flower to finally get some amber trichs.

I will move her inside, and see how she does now that flowering has been initiated.

Sorry for freaking out. I kept checking back (discreetly 'cuz I'm at work) and no responses. I'm used to OG where you get feedback in a little over 10 seconds. Only thing is, most of the feedback comes from high-school age kids that really don't know anything. That's why I'm here.

Thanks for getting your old ass outta your recliner, and answering my post. JK - Peace...

Some Sativa's are auto-flowering. Flowering is dependent upon maturity vice light schedule. However, a 12/12 light sked will definitely speed up the process. :smokin:

Sativa' seem to take more light to flurish than Indicas. This is probably the reason it took off like a bat out of hell once you put it outside.

With the exception of getting used to it's new cramped quarters and a drop in growing rate, your girl should do fine to finish indoors.

Be very careful of overwatering it. Plants brought from the outdoors to an inside environment tend to have a VERY LOW threshold for too much water. Let it dry out nicely between waterings and make sure there is a place for the water to go besides pooling at the base of the container.

You'll get used to the slow pace round these parts... :petting:

Good luck and let us know how it's going! :smoweed:

Some sativas are best flowered with a 10-14 schedule. The longer night time period tells them to hurry the hell up and get shit done. Because sativas come from areas close the the equator, and places close to the equator see 12 hour days more often than any other place, it's best to use a longer night cycle with sativas. Sativas think the 12/12 cycle is about normal, and they need that extra 2 hour dark time incentive to flower - sometimes.

Good point CC - I actually never thought of that! Makes perfect sense. :respect:

The difference between a frustrating experience with sativas and a super kick ass experience with sativas can be as small as knowing the right light cycle

See? It's that first-hand experience, so readily shared by you folks, that makes me proud to be involved in the whole growing hobby. I gotta say, it's the most rewarding hobby I've found for myself yet.

CC - I'm going to move her inside tonight, and set the timer on 10-14. I also had some pretty hot temps in the grow area at first. However, that's been taken care of. I'm thinking of adding a couple 150HPS as well. That would put my wattage at 700. Hell, if that won't get her going, I don't know what will.
Thank you all for your input.

Have done that a few times. It's not the light cycle (although it's important...agreed, longer night/off hours), but every time I do this I put in sequestered room to deal with bugs that have been outdoors in the soil now in a warm comfy environment.

Be aware.
