I have in smaller so yes you are gold. I do suggest spending the extra 8-10 bucks for the fittings. All that would be left is drilling a couple of holes fill and flood and all is well.
So ur saying the should just fill the whole top bin with hydroton, then just put the clones in that, no need for net pots? or can i cut the holes for the 4 inch pots then fill the rest with hydroton?
since i am only veggin till about 6-8 inches how many clones do you think i can put in there?
the bottom bin is 34x16 so the top is a lil bigger that than.
that rubbermaid stuff can be a disaster if u try and max out your capacity (water)
as suggested try and get another colored conatiner (light won't penetrate) for your res. try and get somthin designed to hold liquid/water home depot has those yared buckets like 9 galons or more even they have ROPE handles seen, em in blue and red
less than 20 bucks too if memory serves me.
fashion a lid/cover for it and ur in bizness!!!!
i ebb n flo with 2ft by 2ft trays from the hydro shop but i use the dark plastic rubbermaid tubs for the resevoirs w/ a "table" to hold the trays
190 gpm pumps may be a little too much for your setup but in one minute you should be filled up. is your timer able to do one minute increments?? may not bee such an issue you'll just have to tune ur setup in!!
peace!!
BUZZ!
Allright then. The way you have your setup as shown they WILL NOT collaspe the bottom will support the top. What I'm saying is to fill the top tub with pots and flow those. Now understand with that small of a rez the ph is gonna be a bitch so I highly recommend Pure Blend Pro. The buffer works nice and depending on your experience the strains will be an important choice as well.
I have a thread in the Organic Hydro Section called Ebb And Flowin For Tk that will show ya what I mean. Now understand what the man above said these rubbermaids are flimbsy but if use the way you have shown in the picture (do not move full of water) your ok.
And as far as the rez goes use Duct Tape it's much easier than paint and will work just as well. But to get to MTF'S standards a little sand and paint is do.
Krylon Fusion is made to etch the plastic when sprayed so it sticks, much easier than duct tape I know from experience. As for can you E&F in those containers........
As you can see I use them so it is possible, but algae is definitly a problem UNLESS the canopy is dense enough to cover the light getting to the res. I have not painted mine due to lack of $ at the moment.
I'd also suggest you get some of this....
It's sold in HD and Lowe's in the lighting section as Eggcrate Louvers. They come in 2' x 4' sheets and are easy to cut to size. It will keep the netpots etc out of the water that tends to remain in homemade tables and that promotes rooting by allowing your medium to dry, somewhat, between floods.
