can filter ventilation (NGB)

Ive ordered a 6 inch can fan and the can 33 filter. Which will be put inside a ngb cab.
For those of you who know what the ngb cab is, you know it has a utility room, flowering and a mother room.
I plan on ataching the filter directly to the fan (in the utility room) so its sucking air throught the filter and will be exahusted straight out the back of the cab.
So my question is do these filters suck in air from all over the filter or does it have to be attached to ducting There will be a cool tube in the flowering room.
These are my plans this Is what Im talking about

yes, the filters draw from 360 degrees and you only hook ductwork up to one side. You could make that design work by running the duct from the cool tube through the utility room wall and stopping. The utility room becomes a negative pressure space so you would need to seal everything up so there were no leaks and then the air has to come from the cool tube. I've got a similar setup without a cooltube but bigger than most ngb's and was thinking of just putting a filter in the flowering chamber in the upper rear corner since I have the room.

Thanks and you dont have any pics of your cab? thread maybe?
When you say the utility room has negative pressure will the door be a problem will air get through the utility room door? Like will it have to be sealed?

And may I ask how did you set up your ventilation I plan on having the air come up underneath the cab but not sure how many holes to drill?

Can type filters work best when you pull into them...but they do work when blown into as well. A lot of cabs are run with the lighting duct attached to the fan then the fan to the filter...blowing out the filter.

If you have the fan/filter in the utility room and it is just passively pulling air from the single lighting duct...your air flow will be limited.

It depends really...they can handle more airflow/cfm if they are recirculating/scrubbing ie;pulling air into the filter and a little less airflow/cfm when pushing air into the flter....either way will work....just look at the specs for the can filters at the canfilter website.

wc, it takes a lot of planning to get it right and I think everyone thinks of ways they'd do the next one different. If you click on my name you can see some photos and drawings of my cabinet in my album. It's probably bigger than you want and it isn't exactly stealth, but that was OK for me. I've seen a lot of real good designs around here so spend alot of time studying and stealing ideas. My cabinet uses a lot of ideas from NGB's back when he first posted it.

But ventilation is important and the charcoal filters are a lot of resistance. Like Dave said you will get less than the rated airflow if you add a cooltube to the equation since everything adds resistance. The canfan specs give you the airflow with just the filter connected, you should assume your net airflow will be less, maybe 10-20%. But if you can push air into the filter that might be easier than sealing the utility room for negative pressure.
