Some companies that make these types of fan say they've had their product running for 20-30 years without failure... Maybe not that long in real life, but as long as you don't suck hot air through it and occasionally clean the inside, it should work far longer than a couple of years.
I have had an Elicent 200B that was used by my friend for over four years 24/7 before I aquired it. Before that someone else used it for an unknown amount of time, although we do know it was more than a few years of heavy use. Then I used it for two years 24/7, and the fan was never cleaned or taken care of properly. Worked great until just last year when it started making a clanking sound that got louder as time went on. Finally it just stopped. It still works if I manually give the blade a push lol.
I would think the Can fan's are up to the same builb quality as the Elicents, so I wouldn't worry too much about running it non-stop for years without failure.
