Can dogs carry plant eating bugs?

my friends herbs seem to have leaf damage and what appear to be slit like holes on them. he say they seem to start at the serrated edge of the leaf and theres like a big chunk missing on one of them. the leaves feel quite brittle aswell i was just wondering as it's cold there souldn't be many bugs around? any sort of nute deficiency that can cause this sort of damage? humidity is around 40% in veg how important is the humidity in veg? would that be enough to cause a mold to form? thx for any input

Depends... some of my leaves get jarred and torn, just from myself crawling around watering and cleaning up.

Sure, dogs could carry bugs, a little unlikely IMO.

Humidity is fine, the more the better in veg ( I dont even look in Veg, Feed and let em grow), and it wouldn't be a problem unless you kept it over 40-50% in flower, that invites mold.

A picture is worth a thousand words my man. Post one for a more accurate answer.

dogs can carry all kind of bugs. And 40-50% humidity does NOT cause mold in flower. 60+% does.

50% did for me. I also said over that percentage if you read it.

Just giving the guy some guidelines...

I forget the help-police lurk, ready to strike.

Biggest threat dogs carry is spidermites. Sounds like you got nutrition problems or bad ph rather than "critters".

yes...it's true...dogs can and do carry the unwanted spidermites...it took me several harvests to figure out it was my fuc$in' dog carrying the damn things in...the mites wouldn't make your leaves feel brittle this soon though...looks like you have compounding problems bro...sproutco said it best "nutrition problems or bad ph"...good luck and stay safe

One thing that I know dogs and animals bring to MJ is hair. Lots of it! Keep your pets well away from your plants. I've seen a friends grow get infested with hair. He didn't keep his pets away or protected from his girls at all. Come harvest time he has hair and shit everywhere. Dust and crap too. I think if you have a proper sealed off place with good ventilation then you will be fine. Keep your animals out and away from your plants and you should be fine.

I don't know anything about bugs when it comes to animals though. I would assume if your pets are coming in and out of the house constantly and are near your unprotected plants then yes I would assume they would bring pets with them. Thats just my opinion though.

Peace.

Also keep in mind that bugs migrate into houses during the winter, looking for someplace warm.

From the description, it sounds like there may be some type of leaf eater in there, but the brittle leaves sound like a nute/ph problem, as mentioned earlier.

Concerning humidity, I tend to keep mine around 60%-70% (which is usually well below ambient for me), but it all depends on where you live as to what your humidity will be. Winter causes humidity to drop, summer it rises. I have never had humidity issues, so long as you keep things reasonable (lower humidity, water more often, higher humidity, keep the circulation going...)

cheers for replies peeps,
i was thinkin probly nutrition or ph problems more likely? the fresh leaves are alot better after he gave them a good feed. he's been using the bio-buzz light mix which seems to be pretty lame nutrition wise. the plants gag for food days after being in it. best to just go with the straight potting mix. I'm pretty sure it's not spidermites as they visibly move around the leaf and don't bite chunks out of it. he told me yesterday he misted/sprayed them with water them once or twice :bashhead: could that cause holes from the droplets acting like a magnifying glass? i'll buy him a ph meter for christmas i think the ph might be a bit off like the leaves on top are paler than the ones below does that sound like a ph problem?
