Can Clones Continue as Clones...???

Hello Guys,

I´ve had the oportunity to acquire a Ruderalis Indica which I've been growing since November outdoors ( almost 6 feet). I am in the southern hemisphere which means it is starting its flowering stage about 10 ago already..... I cloned (she is girl) and now have about 10 clones indoor with 2 40 watts flourescente tubes over them. Thy've all rooted and are doing very very well.

The problem is..... that I am in the middle of setting up my lighting system with lots of wattage and so need more time to finish and be able to operate it correctly.
My question is .... " How long can I keep these clones as clones without them growing for at least another 3 o 4 weeks. They've all rooted and are under 24 hr light.

Will very much appreciate your suggestions.

Thank you,

Thank you,

You can keep clones in a state of perpetual vegetation (they do not flower) for years so long as you have more light than dark.

18/6 lighting schedules will keep your clones in a vegetative state. 24/0 works as well but wastes electricity.

I think he means, can he keep em in a clone tray for 3-4 weeks.
I would have to say no, but with small enough pots you could keep them all under the flouro, growing slowly, for 3-4weeks, giving you time to let them grow a bit and train them.
It will also give them time to build a better root base than you cold ever provide leaving them in a tray.
They could very well survive in a tray for a few weeks, but i'm sure they'd look like hell, and have next to no roots left from the air getting to them.

As soon as they're rooted top them and stick them 6 inches under tube flo's.Thats about as close to stasis as a growing plant will get.Make that 6-12 inches the closer the less stretch but the faster growth

ahhh, bonsai anyone????

ahhh, bonsai anyone????

yeah leave them as clones. you can just trim the roots that come out of the cube or whatever your using. I've grown plant in shot glasses for monthes and months. feeding rarely and only getting a small amount of light from a cfl. I've got two on top my my fridge. i little bigger, but you can keep them in a rockwool cube for however long you want. cut the tops cut the roots, just don't cut yourself, just bonsai bro. happy growing -woody

Hello there,

And thank you very much for your reply..... now that i've put them all in small pots with a good mixed soil and have them under two 40 watts tubes , should I continue to treat them as clones (watering) .... Should I continue the lights on 24 hrs. ????

Will appreciate your suggestions in order to keep the plants small till the lights are set up.....

Thanks again.
