Can bug resistant plants be mutagenic or poisonous?

Sometimes when bugs don't eat plants it's because they're carcinogenic/poisonous to some degree. If bugs are steering clear of a plant... why is that? [YOUTUBEIF]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxE9sYatPAs[/YOUTUBEIF]

if the video above is truthful it's not just GMOs that can be insect resistant... organic too. How does this effect something like cannabis strains or phenos that are resistant to spider mites or powdery mildew?
