Can Autoflowering Strains be Cloned?

:chin:Hey Folks, any clue as to weather auto's can be cloned? Seems to me that they would be budding by the time they were big enough to clone. And if I clone an already budded autoflower, would it grow at all or just keep on budding? I am very curious as to how this might be done, if at all. Thank you in advance my friends for your time and wisdom.:thank you:

You *may* be able to get a clone to root, but it will be the same age as the mother so will flower giving you a little nug on a stick - pointless really - that applies to all the true AF's that will flower under 24 hours of light

A semi- auto might be do-able, if its one you can veg continuously under 24 hour light

hope that helps :)

Yes you can clone a AF but your right it would just slow down while growing roots and then just go back to flowering.

You can slow down flowering with low temps but that in turn would cause the cutting not to root and the other way to delay flowering is with a intense blue bulb.

I am getting ready to start a AF grow using the 400w Hortilux Blue and a regular Hortilux HPS bulb and see what we get.

buy regular AFs and make some beans instead. Its the only way with AFs you can keep running something you like

Ummm .... other than the far better strategy to get regular seeds, find a keeper pheno and clone it perpetually to have all the quality smoke you want for as long as you want without ever messing with ordering seeds, germing, etc., etc.

Just a suggestion!

afaik its possible to reveg an auto.. im not 100% sure, i think ive heard someone say its possible, but ive never tried myself.

If so, you can actually take a bud-clone, a clone from a branch that is budding, root that clone and let it reveg.

This is a theoretical practice, ive never done it myself, but in theory it could work. I have seen people take clones from plants well into flowering.

Fair play, but this is the AF forum and he was asking about cloning AFs. What if you don't have 2 spaces? It's easier to keep seeds than it is clones.

Yeh ... but he was starting with an implied premise that he had the ability to cut a clone (hence the "can I clone an AF?" question).

If you can do that, you can probably figger out the rest.

But again, just a suggestion, I know better than to argue with AF fans about their AF's by now!

i put 1 of my rootballs and main stem out on my compost heap a cpl of years ago and after a cpl of months it had new fresh growth on it . when i next run some autos ill do the same with a photo log to see if u can reveg a auto ..

Why argue at all? :ying:

I remember when people argued that feminized seeds were the devil incarnate (low yields, not as potent). Now look at where they are. :blowbubbles:

@OP
Technically auto's can be cloned. The proof is in the photograph above.

However, it is not worth it to clone auto's. If you can get a clone to take, the yield would be incredibly small.

I would suggest breeding auto's and make seeds.

I would put feminized seeds right up there as an equally bad idea ... not arguing, just my opinion!

you CAN but the question is WHY..:biglaugh:

Hermies, chemicals, genetic tamperings ... oh, no reason ...:tiphat:

I was about to post a mountain of links on authoritative sources expounding on the "why" of that .... but heck, if anybody's interested they can track it down. Clearly, the 'feminized" idea appeals to a lot of people ... so be it ... I understand the appeal in some ways.

cheers,
rabbit
