Can anyone reccomend me a gaming PC?

Hey all!

I'm looking to spend £500-600 on a new gaming PC, preferably with a monitor. With not having a good knowledge of PC hardware and all of the computers about, I'm kind of spoilt for choice and unsure what is a good deal and what isn't.

I'd be playing mainly FPS with a bit of Oblivion too and I want something that can run most of the latest games on decent settings although for the price I know not to expect too much, but I want to get the best I can for the price performance-wise. I will be using it for work too and I'd like to be able to burn the occasional DVD and do other things too.

I was looking at a company called Arbico. They seem pretty reasonably priced but I can't find any good reviews on them. They're UK-based which is what I'm looking for though.

In particular I was looking at their featured PC on the bottom right for £500. Being £500 I could get a few upgrades (speakers, new keyboard etc...) but as I said I have no idea what's good and what isn't.

I'd rather go to a company like them and avoid another argument with anyone in PC World trying to sell me the whole shop, but if PC World have any good deals let me know!

Anyway, if anyone can guide me to a good deal for a gaming PC with a monitor from a company in the UK for around £500-600 then let me know.

Thanks for reading and any help! :rasta:

PS. Arbicos website is http://www.arbico.co.uk

I'll second alien ware.
Amazing computers for gaming.. always getting the top of the line hardware for it. But expect to pay top of the line prices.

Ive been out of the computer gaming thing for a long time now so i dont know as much. But Dell i know makes computers that are usually good deals and come with everything you need, I think their gaming line is called XPS, they look pretty cool too.

Alienware is very expensive, and is definitly the company you want to go to if you got enough cash lying around and want a computer that wont have out of date technology by the time it arrives at your doorstep.

But if you want a computer that will glow in the night with rage and power without it even being turned on..... www.voodoopc.com

Alienware is good if your parents are rich and you know nothing about comps. I can round up all their hardware on one of their higher end pc's for half the price. It won't be in one of their beautiful cases or have the alien stickers...but who needs them.

Anyway, we have a winner @ £638.29

The only game you may have issues with is Crysis (who doesn't). Every other game up to date will run buttery smooth.

Don't pay someone else to build your rig, do it yourself. Sign up for the forums at tomshardware.com, learn the basics, ask questions, and build your own. You will save hundreds of dollars, and it's not very hard to do. I built my own gaming pc last year and I am very happy with it, plus it cost about $1000 less than the same specs on an alienware

kizzatack ..build your own...if you arent able to then id suggest alien ware or a dell xps...but those pre built gaming machines are expensive as heck!! you could build your own for a fraction!

all those companies like alien ware and falcon northwest are a complete waste of money, dont think for a second that their computers are faster than a homebuilt computer with the exact same hardware. and its almost always cheaper to build your own, and its really easy and fun. the exception is on the low end of about 700 usd and below where it can be cheaper to buy a prebuilt computer from dell or another company.

^^ i agree do what thcbound & demonic are saying....if you have lots of cash and dont really care about learning about building a pc then go with a pre fabricated machine...but building your own unique machine is where its at!
i build my pc 4 yrs ago! and it still runs smooth..never had a single problem with it, my dad has gone through three computers since i built this one....the choice is yours but i think its a simple one...build your own computer it may seem a monumental task..but its not i assure you...

Yeah honestly it's not hard at all to order all of the parts (Motherboard, RAM, CPU, Video Card, Heatsink, a case, case fans, power supply) and assemble it. There are youtube videos and websites that will show you the step-by-step assembly, and www.tomshardware.com will guide you towards the right brands and model hardware in your price range.

Or if you're super lazy order from alienware and pay twice as much.

ya building your own is easy. i built this one at least 6 years ago, maybe longer. it's so outdated that it can't play any current games but it still runs great for anything else you wanna do with it.

A kick ass system isnt going to make up for a poor graphics card. Research those more than dumping dough into stuff you dont need like an accelerated network card, etc.

I can say from experience that Alienware's are incredible PCs... however they're over priced, and plain lame if your a true gamer. IMO

Build a frag box dude, hit NewEgg up and/or TigerDirect. Shit is cheap, effective and you can build a box that will blow any alienware outta the water for 1/2 the cost.

I'd make sure you went AMD, just because your gaming. Low Latency RAM, RAID HD set up and an intense GFX card. Gotta be over 512mb, thats considered hardcore in my book.

Lots of RAM, like 2 gigs minimum.

Just build a power house and make sure, most people over look this, but make sure you get a hefty power supply, 650 watts plus.

If your smart, you'd build it in a use alienware case from e-bay and liquid cool it. ----> that shit is genius.
