Can 75: Stupid Setup Question

I purchased a CanFan brand Can75 carbon filter to attach to an 8" vortex. I bought a 10" to 8" reducer assuming that it would fit in the end of the filter, but it doesn't. The opening on the end of the filter is about 10.5".

How does the ducting attach to these filters? I figure it can't be too difficult since these are fairly popular filters. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Can makes an adapter to fit it for around $20...I needed a 6" adapter tho and didn't feel like hunting it down, so I made it from the top of a rubbermaid tote and a tabbed duct starter since I had em laying around.

a CanFan brand Can75 carbon filter

this should have come with a flange to adapt to the ducting my 4inch filter i bought 1 was included in the puchase

screws came with it so i used silicone to affix the flange then screwed it into the filter attached my ducting tightened the worm gear clamp and im set :). check with where you purchased the filter they should have this flange

Thanks for the help! I called up the shop and they had forgotten to give me the flange. Problem solved.

Take it easy.

Maj.PotHead, I picked one up yesterday along with the flange and screws. Did you have to drill into the metal filter end in order to attach your flange? I ask that because there are no holes in either my flange or my filter end. That's what I was about to do.

Yep you have to drill into the can to put the screws in. Kind of stupid but I guest they don't know what kind of system you are going to set it up to. I had to buy the flang seperate. But if I had seen this thread or thought about it... I would have done it Sandman's way and saved the money and a trip.

Peace
