I was going to order a tent for 2 1k's all i would have to do is order the tent and 1 more ballast/bulb/hood but will 1 6" vortex cool 2 1k's inline in a tent?

( also have 6inch vortex for putting in tent with carbon filter )

maybe in the winter months but not in summer...id deffinatley be thinking about 10 '' to keep 2 k cool in a tent configuration and run the 6'' as an intake

A vortex will cool 2kw easily in a room. The tent... I don't think it would work as well zipped up as it will opened. I've seen tents with window AC units cut into them that were sealed units, but I've yet to hear of one w 2kw that wasn't rigged for AC zipped up..

I have a GrowLab GL145L and I have 2 1ks for it. I was going to use a Can Max Fan 8''.........does anyone think i should go bigger and get a 10''? It just seems like a little overkill, which I dont mind but wont the 8'' Can Max be enough? I just wanna make sure I can keep cool in the summer.

You could probably get away with using your 6" on the intake and an 8" as an exhaust that is also cooling your lights and filtering the odor.

I am going to use 1 8'' can max fan to cool my 2 magnum xxxl 1ks and Is that going to be enough in the summer or woulda 10'' be better.....anyone? Thanks in advance!

8 is more then plenty.....

i run 2 x 1k cooltube's & a .38 canfilter on 8"

6" would be way to small for 2k....... hey norcal why dont u run 2 tent's on same fan and have the light on a flip flop? so only one is running at a time u could save on buying a 2nd ballast

The temp of the lung room will dictate weather you can run that much heat in your tent.I would have to agree with toohigh and dongle about the A/C. I would have a plan in mind if you cant control temps,ie a knife, tape and a window A/C unit
I Live in a cool climate(80 degrees is rare in dead of summer) I had to have 2 -6 inch vortecs to cool a 7x6 room with 2 K .One fan sucked through a scrubber and pushed clean air through air cooled hoods and out of room .The second was set up on a temp controller and came on when temps got to 78 .

You said you can keep lung 68 degrees .I think its do able with fans but you will have to exhaust air out of lung room.

I cool three 600 watt HPS lights with one 6" can fan max. It does a pretty good job. Could be better but I can put my plants to within 6 inches of the hoods.

BTW I use supersun hoods with 6" flanges.

Generally it is a good idea to oversize your fans, if they are too powerful on the full speed setting a speed controller can be used. Another benefit is that a large fan or impeller blade will generally create less noise than a smaller fan moving the same volume of air and will do so more efficiently. The same applies to duct/vent size, bigger is generally better.

That said, I'm of the opinion that the commonly cited rules of thumb regarding venting hoods are vastly overstated. I have used very low power 4" fans to successfully cool a single 1000W hood in a very high ambient temperature environment, the uninsulated top of the reflector barely gets warm, why? - there are very few restrictions in the airflow and the inlet is located right at ground level (~10°F cooler than chest level) outside in a shaded area.

If I were you, I'd hook up the 6" and take temperature measurements, if it is not sufficient then another fan can be added in parallel if low static pressure, in series (use an identical fan) if there is an airflow restriction.

00420: that rigid ducting is sexy, makes me uhhh.. yeah.

Im wondering if I use a 10'' can max if it will make a difference when running my 2 1ks or if I should just go with the 8''. I have a can filter outside the tent im gonna hook the end of the last light up to. I wanna try to catch whatever exits the tent before it goes any further. Its only 2 lights in a growlab gl145l so thats why i thought a canmax 8'' would do it, but after reading it seems a canmax 10'' would be better cause of summer....is that too much?
