Hello members. I’d like to introduce to you my new camera setup. I’d also like to say that I never even considered buying a nice SLR until I started growing dope. Viewing all the great pot pictures from this site has led me to the path of picture taking as a semi-serious hobby. I also realize that you don’t need a high end camera to take beautiful pictures, but in my case it helps because I don’t have a background in photography. I do have a background of heavy pot smoking and this hobby is a combination of both.
A great advantage of growing my own dope is the money I save by not having to buy bud. I figure I save $2000 to $4000 a year in pot cost, and use the savings for toys. My work takes care of everything else (thankfully) and enables me to save a little for the future. So the way I look at it is the camera is free.
I’ve had the camera body for about a year or so now, but have recently purchase some accessories. I’ll list them here with the prices I paid to give you an idea of the cost involved.
Camera:
Canon EOS 20D, Digital, 8.2 megapixel - (w/ kit including an EF-S 18-55mm lens.)
($1500)
Flash:
Canon Speedlite 580EX
($450)
Lenses:
Canon EF 75-300mm
($350)
Canon EF 100mm (f/2.8 macro)
($450) just got it
The storage cards, hard case, bag, readers, etc. tack on another ($300)
We also have a Sony DSC F828 8mp
Which cost me $1300 a year and a half ago. (I think they are $700+- now)
The Sony has built in zoom and makes movies; it also has night vision, laser focus and is a great camera, but not an SLR.
My daughter who is a budding photog uses the Sony mostly.
Some of my favorite IC photographers are Gamera, Abby, Rez, Ms G and Sunnyside. These people are masters of full color reproduction and I couldn’t even dream of being on that level but I’ll do my best to try. Everybody else takes great pictures too and I am thankful to be a part of this cool place!
The first pic was taken w/ the Sony
The second and third pix are w/ the Canon and 100mm macro.
