Mate, I have a little 'Canon Power Shot A560'.

it seems to be good all round ... is fairly simple to use (has an instruction book for beginners and a second one for advanced ... there's alot to learn but it can be done in separate stages ... so you can look up 'macro' and learn to do only that).

dunno about after sales service cos it hasn't broken down in 5 years.

will eat batteries if you use flash ... but all these little cameras do that.

has a "4X" zoom function (good enuf for across the room) and it's resolution is 7.1 megapixels (whateverthefucktheyare ... pixies, elves that do the work inside the camera?).

so yeah ... I 'm recommending it. there are lots of Canon models you may decide to buy a cheaper one and learn on that. but the money (not excessive) my model costs was well spent IMO.

cheers Pommy!

get a nice point and shoot if you don't need macro

that simple, you look at it, it focuses, and you shoot
