It needs to be further thought out and re-written until they get it right.

I never believed that in my life time Americans would every happily give the government permission to trample our right to privacy.

Are you 100% sure that another chance will come around that will be better?

The world is a bit crazy right now, I say get your foot in the door before it shuts.

^to begin with thank you for sharing your opinion with slandering me and giving me bad rep.

like I said the bill isnt perfect. but it will lead the way for other states. you have to legalize in one huge state or two before the federal government will consider it.

Also Big Pharma wouldnt support this bill. they cant do anything with pot until the nation legalizes because they have to obey federal law. a small state only business doesnt, so they can profit from this where large national companies cant.

also this is chump change for big pharma, they dont need pot money.

oh and also the same families that own big pharma also owns the private prisons system

^^^???
ROFL slander and bad rep what are you talking about? All I did was post up an opinion in this open forum. I really think slander is a word you should look up and read the definition a few times. You shouldn’t use big words if you have no clue what it means. Healthy debate is what these forums are correct?

Every time someone disagrees you lay on the floor kicking and screaming while holding your breath that’s sad.
Again we all want it legalized but don’t want our legs chopped off at the same time. After this bill fails they will go back to the drawing board and I’m sure come up with a much better bill. We have waited this long and I for one don’t want to settle for a bill that was doomed from the start.
It’s all in the fine print and there for you to read and understand…

After the bill doesnt pass they will go back to the drawing board with a better thought out and written bill which I will happily look forward to. Until then...

Who is going to go back and do that?

Right now there is only one person putting up the cash to get this moving....you think if it loses he will put up another million?

If not then who?

So because it's not 'just the way they want' people are going to vote no and then just sit back and wait? Nice plan.

I'm voting yes because it WILL keep people out of jail.

With being raised in a political family I can recognize BS when I see it. For the most part anyway, nobody is perfect. To me this bill was haphazardly thrown together and there are too many grey areas that only lead to bad things. This isn’t the only bill they tried to get on the ballot there were a few others that went down in flames. That being said they have what it takes to get this done but need a little more time to get it right. I know it will never be perfect but a lot more needs to be spelled out in a bill like this before it passes.

What we really need are flash cards associated with the bill so everyone can understand what’s in that bill. I assure you there are some very scary ones in the bunch.

Just a humble opinion

actually, it won't pass because the majority of northern california growers will vote no, because it will affect the price of their crop, because they're a bunch of crying, whining, californians. they will be the sole reason, because they wont be able to do anything else to make money, like get a job. i live in california, i will be voting yes. the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

Either way I would really encourage folks to read the bill top to bottom at least twice and read it carefully. Remember folks billion dollar slumdogs (big pharma) is not someone we want running the show here.

Take your own advice and READ the bill then because you obviously have not. How do you think Big Pharma is attached to this? Show me where it says anything about that. Richard Lee is the one backing this bill with HIS money, and lots of it.

Sorry for the caps but......

WHY THE HELL DOES EVERYONE THINK THIS BILL IS A DAMN CONSPIRACY FOR ONLY RICHARD LEE AND A SELECT FEW TO GET RICH???? AHHHHHH!!!!!! I HAVE HEARD PEOPLE SAY STUPID SHIT LIKE "OH THIS BILL WILL MAKE RICHARD LEE THE ONLY CANNABIS DISTRIBUTOR IN OAKLAND, EVERYONE WILL HAVE TO GO TO OAKSTERDAM TO GET THEIR CANNABIS". WHERE DOES IT SAY THAT IN THE BILL?????? READ PEOPLE, READ!!!!!

If they really want to do the right thing let’s get this wonderful plant knocked down to a schedule 2 drug at the very least. I want it done the right way is all I’m preaching fair enough.

.

Thats at a FEDERAL level my friend, we are talking about at a state level here. BIG difference. Even if it was schedule 2 tho, people will still go to jail for it. Hell, Cocaine is a schedule 2 drug and people do hard time for that.

Richard Lee setup the zoning regulations in his favor so that he has no problem getting his industrial canna warehouses started whereas others will have big problems. The acreage needed for commercial growing is not cool and will effect many growers; it takes the money out of the hands of the people who use it in the local economies and fills the large bank accounts of the monopolizers. They have been nice enough to unionize the labor force behind the growing so they can make all of the profits and will have to pay very little for the work to get done. The counties will make their own regulations and if you have the big bucks and are already in the pockets of local councils you get to grow. If not you are basically screwed. Everyone can have the space to grow in a 5'x5' grow tent...and also $690 in taxes on a 1lb plant. Once again I'm amazed by the people who want me to vote in favor of big business and screwing the local people. This will be like prop215 in that it will take a voter referendum to make changes to the proposition...remember SB420 and why it got deflated. I like how it's fine if California gets laws that are less than well written, because other states will get it right when they follow suit to legalize. What are we supposed to do when that does happen? Vote again to amend the voter referendum?

Why is that? Why can I not get get an industrial warehouse? Did he write in the bill "Only Me, Richard Lee can purcahse or rent warehouse property for cannabis manufacturing". I don't recall seeing that.... Are you saying he is going to purcahse ALL warehouse property that is in the proper zoning areas? It doesn't even lay out zoning laws in the damn bill!!! It leaves it up to local governments to decide their own zoning laws.

Notwithstanding any other provision of state or local law, a local government may adopt ordinances, regulations, or other acts having the force of law to control, license, regulate, permit or otherwise authorize, with conditions, the following:

(h) appropriate controls on licensed premises for sale, cultivation, processing, or sale and on-premises consumption, of cannabis, including limits on zoning and land use, locations, size, hours of operation, occupancy, protection of adjoining and nearby properties and persons from unwanted exposure, advertising, signs and displays, and other controls necessary for protection of the public health and welfare;

Everyone can have the space to grow in a 5'x5' grow tent...and also $690 in taxes on a 1lb plant.

How do you figure taxes? There are NO TAXES on personal growing. READ THE BILL. The bill also explicitly states that it protects Prop 215 patients and their existing rights.

Ensure that if a city decides not to tax and regulate the sale of cannabis, that buying and selling cannabis within that city’s limits remain illegal, but that the city’s citizens still have the right to possess and consume small amounts, except as permitted under Health and Safety Sections 11362.5 and 11362.7 through 11362.9.
8. Ensure that if a city decides it does want to tax and regulate the buying and selling of cannabis (to and from adults only), that a strictly controlled legal system is implemented to oversee and regulate cultivation, distribution, and sales, and that the city will have control over how and how much cannabis can be bought and sold, except as permitted under Health and Safety Sections 11362.5 and 11362.7 through 11362.9.
Once again I'm amazed by the people who want me to vote in favor of big business and screwing the local people.

You are right, big businesses like private prisons and prison guard unions lobbying to keep cannabis illegal to fill up their jails. A vote for NO for Prop 19 sure helps them out and keeps bringing in fresh prisoners.

Quite. Well said.

WHY THE HELL DOES EVERYONE THINK THIS BILL IS A DAMN CONSPIRACY FOR ONLY RICHARD LEE AND A SELECT FEW TO GET RICH?
Because that's what "EVERYONE" would "think"(I use the term loosely) no matter what happened. :D

Just far too many irresponsible, spoilt, paranoid brats around, that's all...

The sad state of how America is today, I guess...

What, will a personal grower have to pay tax? Link please, or is this more of the whingers' misinformation?

Once again I'm amazed by the people who want me to vote in favor of big business and screwing the local people.
It's not screwing the local people - it means they can grow personal without fear of jail, and reinforces liberty - whereas before it forced the individual to rely on some obviously fake sob-story for "permission", as if Cali was some corrupt Eastern bloc state.
Now it may not favor people who were making ridiculous, extortionate profits from weed, but guess what, they're not the only "local" people.
In fact it was the growers and the black market that was screwing the local people, don't try twist it the other way now ;).
400+ a zip, shheeeesh.

if it will keep 1 person out of jail, the vote should be yes, how could anyone want someone to get arrested, if so , they are partly responsible for the action , and very bad karma.

If even ONE person would be kept out of jail by this bill, I would vote yes. But it won't, so I'm voting no.

Nobody is in jail for possession of under 1oz, or growing personal quantities of weed in California. Neither of those offenses are jailable offenses, just a $100 fine or a diversion program.

Everyone that IS in jail is there for big grows, transporting or sales. All of which will remain illegal even if Prop 19 were to pass, which it lacks the support to do so.

And yes, before you point it out, I don't think putting all the small and medium growers out of business will help our economy, probably the opposite.

I saw a first offense posession of less than 1 ounce fine of $300 plus $25 court fees get handed out a couple months ago in San Bernardino County court when I was there on job related BS.

Then you should vote yes because if someone grows just one plant...it's a felony. No $100 fine but a felony. That right there will keep a lot of people out of jail...do you disagree?

If someone is on probation and gets caught...its jail.

have two bags on ya...Jail. There are ways for LEO to up charges...most know that.

The cop " Hey, I smell pot get out of the car." whatever happens next is always different but its never fun.

Also, I had to take diversion once to keep my license even though I was caught with just an 1/8. So for 2 years I was on formal probation with monthly visits and pee tests. You think that's ok?

..big grows, transporting or sales. All of which will remain illegal even if Prop 19 were to pass.

Not true....cities can zone and regulate grows any size they see fit. Some will ban it some will let it flourish.

This will make it so much easier for EVERYONE that wants to grow for a living, as long as they are willing to produce quality. The shwag market is the only market that will be controlled by slightly bigger than small business corporations because good growers wont work for them for cheap. Therefore they will have less skilled growers and produce crappier weed that sells for cheaper. probably pre rolled too.

actual large national and muti national corporations wont get in this game. It is to taboo still.

Wow maybe I should have said read and understand, obviously you are struggling with that. That’s if you think R. Lee is doing this for the good of his people with his hard earned 9-5 money. Common man wake up and smell the coffee. This bill is to make the rich get richer not keep people out of jail don’t be a fool.

We can go back and forth all day but in the end only time will tell.

One statistic that I would love to see and won’t affect the arrest #'s is juvenile possession. I’m guessing at least 30-35% of those #'s are under 21.

Boy oh boy sometimes I wish I had flash cards to help some out. Cocaine yes schedule 2 and a manufactured drug that is used all across the country in lab testing for everything under the sun. Point being is that on a federal level if its still a level one do you really think the feds are going to say "oh that’s cool it’s a state law our work is done here" Hell no they will turn the heat up here and kick mud in your face.

Unless your father was a town mayor or something I have no idea what that means.

No state assembly, and city councils. Point being the stuff that goes on behind closed doors on our (general publics) behalf is well for lack of a better term a we bit shady.

Really what I was trying to say is that money greases wheels. And if you have enough and know the right people a lot can get done, barring those that oppose you arnt bigger fish with more money.

Its sad I wish it wasnt like this but we are all a product of modern day society
