California Split Almost Evenly on Prop 19; Few Left Undecided about Marijuana Legaliz

I am going through and perhaps this is an accurate poll. I am saying that many who could or would vote are not willing to make the effort and a whole bunch of growers want this to fail.

Personally I am unsure which way it will go.

oposition 19, the newly numbered California initiative to legalize, tax and regulate cannabis, would lose by a very close margin if the election was held today, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll:

The poll, which has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points, also found that 48 percent of voters would support legalizing marijuana, compared to 50 percent opposed.

While voters who oppose Prop 19 slightly outnumber those who support it , the two-point difference is well within the poll’s margin of error, so the state is effectively evenly split on the issue. The numbers mirror the findings of a poll from the Public Policy Institute of California (PDF) taken back in May. It gave the pro-marijuana legalization side a slight edge, 49-48, also within the poll’s margin of error.

Because all of the people that are willing to help vote it through have felony charges for possession and can't vote!

This was the governments plan all along :chin:

Oh this is some Drama..

I have likened tot the proverbial "The Cat is out of the Bag."

Even if Prop 19 fails the Popularity of Weed is at a all time high <pun intended>

If the Voters think we are stopping Cannabis by voting no I guess they don't know Mexico has the largest crop on record in this year... LOL < I read that some place >

You're right. I'm almost willing to bet a lot of the people voting no are uneducated, and are only doing so because to them it's "the right thing to do."

They probably aren't looking at it from any other perspective besides drugs are bad.

Tax cannabis =) Revenue will be small.. Only reason it's so big now is because it's illegal. People are afraid to buy it much less grow it. (Don't tell them this though) :tiphat:

You are right! A no vote isn't a no vote against cannabis it's a yes vote to keep the market system the way it is..

And I wonder just who is involved in that since many Conservatives vote no.

We just busted one of our Major banks laundering drug money..

i dont know if using mexico as an example is really positive jack...
they are kidnapping and killing people left and right down there - one of my wifes coworker's 15 year old cousin was kidnapped ransom paid but the kid was recently found in pieces over the weekend...

mexico isnt an ideal example for the cannabis cause....

that said the link is great

Jack, I don't think this poll takes into account the entirety of young voters. Many younger voters will cast their vote in November solely because of Prop 19; their turnout will be huge and may give Prop 19 the winning edge.

No problem.. I was just going through email and was sharing.. I'm not presenting any position.

Mexico is a mess..

It's worrisome.. I will be sitting around that fateful night like all of you will be..

I see serious fault in what Lee has done. Still it's the permission that tips the scale.. Our Conservative friends are playing the "Not in my town" game with medical.. I can't wait until they have to shut the hell up with plants in many yards!

So the point is get everyone out to vote.. Folks have short attention spans and are easily led by their ignorance by a simple few.

Vote yes or Vote no but we need our people to vote!

That is the only Poll i have seen.. It seems to be before the NAACP and that NAACP is a Gong of immense size.

i agree 100% with this. I have been able to vote for over 5 years, but have not even registered to do so. (shame on me).

Prop 19 is the SOLE reason I went out and registered to vote this year, as I feel will be the case with many young people. I feel this year its finally in OUR hands to change unjust cannabis laws.
