Dear ASA Members and Friends,

Americans for Safe Access (ASA) filed a lawsuit in federal court today challenging the Obama Administration's attempt to subvert local and state medical cannabis laws. ASA filed suit on behalf of our members who have been adversely affected by an escalation in federal pressure against medical cannabis.

ASA's new lawsuit is a part of our campaign to push back on aggressive federal tactics. We need your help to put political pressure on the Obama Administration, mount an effective media campaign, and keep fighting in the courts. Can you make a special contribution to support this legal effort?

Our groundbreaking Tenth Amendment lawsuit seeks to stop federal interference and intimidation, which has been escalating since US Attorneys in California announced the crackdown on October 7th. The scope of the new federal attack is shocking. The Drug Enforcement Administration is raiding medical cannabis providers and cultivators. The Department of Justice is threatening to prosecute landlords and confiscate their property. The Administration is seeking to intimidate elected officials, financial service providers, legal gun owners, and media outlets. This may be the broadest and most serious threat to medical cannabis yet.

There is no time to wait. The Obama Administration’s attack on medical cannabis is already having an adverse impact on patients’ access. We need to stop these tactics now, before they spread further. As a member of ASA, you know that you are a part of the solution. Don’t miss out!

We are fighting this battle on behalf of our members, and we need your support to make it happen. It is more important than ever to stand up and be counted today. We know we can make a difference. Our successful advocacy, media, and legal campaigns have already resulted in important court precedents, new sentencing standards, and more compassionate community guidelines. With your ongoing support, we will stop this federal attack and take back the momentum!

Thank you for doing your part,

Steph Sherer
Executive Director

Two steps forward one step back. It is and WILL happen where people will be free to use a herb that's been safely used for a hell of along time without the Hell mongers from big government thinking they know what's best for us all.
Get out and be heard people.
Good Luck to us all.

while i applaud the ASA taking this measure to the feds...they are a wolf in sheeps clothing.

They want to basically monopolize the marijuana industry in california...and they have the kind of money and political backing to do so...

But hey, if they spend some money fighting this it helps the movement somewhat...even if they turn their backs on everybody once they achieve their goals..

Marijuana is illegal because pharmaceuticals have a vested interest in eliminating
competition to their overpriced, marginally effective, often dangerous drugs. Rest assured,
once they've figured out how to capture up the market, we will see regulation and mass
distribution of cannabis-based medicines by corporate Pharma, and Mom and Pop dispensaries will become a thing of the past. Federally it is no longer a matter of if or when to legalize but how to ensure that the profits aren't captured by the non-elite.
That opinion was ripped from another thread but an opinion I happen to agree with.

Your solution is to legalize pot & enslave us with more government regulations & government control.
I have enough govenrmewnt control in my life, thank you very much.
Worst thing that could possibly happen.

This is asinine. They claim that the Federal government is "subverting" state and local laws, when in reality the state and local governments are subverting FEDERAL law. Obviously I don't AGREE with the Federal law and feel that anyone should be able to do whatever they want with their own body as long as it does not affect anyone else, but shit. When are people going to realize that in order to be taken seriously we need to actually pursue discussions that are worth arguing?

So your saying the 10th amendment and states rights are not worth arguing? Any powers not granted to the fed by the constitution shall be left to the states. We have an illegitimate foreign banker government that is importing drug ,murdering people and shitting on our constitution. If we just roll over were dead.
