California Collective/Tax Kit...

I was wondering if someone offered services in creating marijuana collectives/corporations that passed all legal muster similar to the way legal zoom offers for regular businesses how much would it be worth?

Included would be

Articles of Incorporation
Collective Master Agreements
Bylaws
IRS EIN number
Bank Account (optional)
State Sellers Permit

Interesting thought. So, you've got it drawn up as a non-profit, or is it an agriculture co-operative?

I guess the answer to your question is, how much do you think it's worth?

I like the idea. I'd pay a nice $250+ for someone to provide that service to myself and my future collective associates to be completely honest. Like biggertom said, how much do you think it's worth?

Well I would also include relevant legal information. Including zoning regulations and such for where the collective might operate. So if someone wanted to get a business license to run a dispensary they could infact do it, but if they don't want to they would have a nice legal vehicle for growing cannabis under the protection of California law, and getting their money to do so.

How would this help people in San Diego?

Doesn't matter how legal you are if your town just doesn't want it.

I'm assuming correctly that even you haven't figured out a way around that?

Well San Diego prohibits dispensaries. They can't stop people from forming a growers collective pursuant to the laws of the state. So if you can find 17 friends who are also patients you can collectively grow 99 plants in one spot, Legally!

Nice Freedom. What if your Doctor gave you a rec for 70 plants, and my Wife one for 60. I have been thinking of having a few friends go see him also and getting a few more recs and starting a collective.
This would all be legal under State law correct?

I think it's a great idea! For most of us that are most focused on growing for our own needs but also interested in helping our fellow patients, the legal / paperwork side of things to do a "collective" is a tall hurdle.

If you're trying to make some coin off your efforts I dont have any issue with that. Maybe a 2-tiered pricing scale for the kit would be appropriate? One level for those interested in opening a store front, another for those that want to garden collectively?

Peace & Cutting through the red tape!

If its ready to use paperwork I would say $100, if you're doing it all for the people I'd say more like $500...I'd keep it low enough that someone can't easily come in and provide the same service for significantly less...Once you know what you're doing that's really only a day or a day and a half of work I would think...

The state sellers permit seems like it could be a real hassle though so if there's a certain way you need to work that system to get a permit then the service could be worth $1000 or more...

sorry Freedom, didn't mean to burst your bubble. Seems like these guys are aiming for the guys who want to make a bunch of money, not the small medical users interested in setting up a collective.

There definitely needs to be some sort of comprehensive packet people can get to establish a collective safely and easily.

It would be full service. I would do all the paperwork/leg work. Should have a turn around time of 7 - 10 days. I am thinking $500 would be good. That would include everything listed above. I even know of a medical marijuana business friendly bank that would open legal accounts. That would be a free referral with the package. I do have a corporate card that says California Cannabis Inc. on it. When it comes to city hall or the county centers thats when it would be up to the client should they want a biz license.

Oh and if anyone wants to buy California Cannabis Inc. I will sell it for $50K... comeplete with a business license! (thats the hard part)

You didn't burst my bubble. Infact it makes me want to do this more. Like damn greedy mother fuckers from Oakland. They can't be happy with their monopoly position in Oakland selling weed. Blue Sky and now Harborside are doing whatever they can to squeeze that much more money from cannabis. Can't blame them, but shit they should let other qualified people make money too. Interesting though because I am in Sacramento I can get the state paperwork done a lot faster.

A little competition only helps. You just have to do something to differentiate yourself. Seems like you already are doing that by making more personal relationships. Word of mouth can be hugely powerful for business growth. It looks like they are trying to be everything to everybody and that can be confusing. Your idea is more tailored a specific area and you have pretty spelled out exactly what you will do. Don't let them scare you off.

Totally unrelated, but housing is an area where I see a demand. Prop 215 friendly housing is a crap shoot for renters, and I bet they would be willing to pay a premium for housing where they knew they would be welcome. Refugees coming from out of state that are looking to rent until they can get a property sold in this down market have a difficult dilemna. Just sayin', lol. Although it is a valid idea. How to do it and keep people safe is a whole other question. You can't exactly advertise houses for rent with an address that say they will let you grow cannabis there. You'd have to protect identities and addresses and figure all that out somehow.

Off topic, sorry, carry on. Wonderful idea for a service to help form collectives that it seems like some people could use. I don't know how many would use such a service, but I'm sure some would.

Although your kit idea sounds promising, perhaps buying land and allowing patients to grow their own meds on it could be profitable and helpful. I know for many people, the lack of space stops more patients than the ability to grow itself.

Fighter, it seems that your idea is similar to the company on wall street selling kits to help people start up businesses.
