Glad u caught my little Bow Wow "rant" & the lazy indolent generational slant of ----> the smart phone /Ipod , big~Ass Flat Screen /Video Game & $200 sneaker materialist generation , that hit puberty & payed their silly dues in the early '90's & spoiled in a Techno~Boom economy . That they all must have the DANKest of the Dank like Snoop Dog to be "cool & be stoopid" man ....tried to keep it humorous .

Funny fact heard recently that polls are showing a trend now of more percents of kids now smoking weed now than turning to alcohol .... and of course in the past 5yrs more bottled water is sold now in the US than Beer. Changing trends & times ...more plastic for the landfill.

Glad it revived this thread though , where some lively animated exchanges took place over the summer/fall . One thing Cali has to be more aware of that they aren't the center of the universe any longer , though many states are dry even now during the glut some states like Colo are coming on strong .

This is all very interesting, and very predictable. The "market" always knows and is merciless. It does not matter what you grow or what you sell. The market dictates price and it doesn't care what your costs are, what your strain is, how much care you give, what kind of sandals you wear, or who you vote for. A decade ago I grew medicinal and gourmet mushrooms commercially. A niche market right? Grow the best and get top dollar right? Wrong. The market was set by the most efficient growers, period. And the most efficient producers will hammer prices down to the pennies and leave the unprepared in the dust. That's how the big boys work, and its how all markets work. What is the cheapest that a pound of top quality can be produced and sold at a profit? Thats what the price will be if enough competition is allowed. I think pot prices can go easily below 1K per#, eventually. Furthermore i believe there is great danger lurking for growers due to indiscriminate cloning and cut swapping. Genetic material is being exposed to all manner of potential problems on account of this sloppy practice. Cuts are already infected with root aphids, which are controllable, now, but as they get exposed to haphazard controls and ineffective pest management they lurk, ready to explode. Also viruses are showing up in cuts. TMV is becoming prevalent in traded cuts. Viruses are forever. I had to abandon my mushroom grow due to a virus I could not overcome. Viruses are almost impossible for the lay person to ID until they are hopelessly infected. It is one thing to have a grow infected. It is quite another for the genetic stock to be infected. If growers are not more disciplined about bringing clones into their grows a catastrophe is surely waiting. If I was Emperor I would ban clone trading. It is a disaster waiting to ruin everything. I know this is not a popular idea, but all growers should return to seeds and develop their own keepers and manage their own genetics before some horrible marijuana super flue comes in and wipes out a large swath of growing.
Marijuana is just a plant. Growing it on a large scale concentrates the risks. Every disease and pest that would love to live in Cannabis but has never had enough access to really get going looks at all these rows of trees out in Cali and says ,"I'm home".

I think people want strains that are unique. I grew a pheno of Soma's Lavender with the
craziest fruity smell - smoke - aftertaste that carried through. People freaked for it.
Another pheno from the same pack was pure funk. And a little more potent. But ultimately forgettable. It made me a believer in the hunt!

I've been growing in nor-Cali for over 10 yrs non-stop(3.5-4 crops a yr depending on strains)...and I've seen a lot of "trends" in cannabis.. with the people who grow it/sell it and buy it..my point being,strains do come and go..remember back when it was all about the "skunk weed"?? light green fluffy buds, so stinky you couldn't go anywhere with it on you... and then fast forward a lil bit,, a few yrs ago it was all about the "Blueberry",, and then all the blueberry crosses came about as folks tried to "better things"...and "we" did come out with more than a few great ones!!...then it was the "Kush" strains and the "purps"... Kush and it's crosses(most are terrible low yielders), is all the rage in southern cali....purps is all over northern cali!! everyone's got some and it's everywhere,... purpleblahblahblah...personally, I`m tired of all that!!!!..
right now I`m sitting on seeds from almost 25 different strains/crosses and pondering on whats next for me and my little circle of folks....I`d really like to see what strains, old or new, pure or all crossed up,,people would like to see ......G.

as a central cali med patient i'll tell you what i want.

first of all, dispensaries blow, and as long as my collective is running i'll never go to one again. i paid the same prices for cali weed in ny and mass as the dispensaries here charge. it's a total scam.

as for variety- it seems as tho everyone is growing high yeilding indica/kush strains. there are plenty of hybrids available as well, but where are the sativas? the highest sativa dom hybrid i can get my hands on is trainwreck which our grower rates at 65% sat, and it really doesn't cut it for me. i've only seen haze pop up a few times, and it was bomb, and it sold out in like 2 days.

i need sexy hazes that smell like your dead grandpa's trunk in the attic. i need some old school sativas. i need jack, i need cindy, i need ST. i need some fucking buzzing, excited, euphoric highs. please. thank you.
