These are off a OG kush x Sour D plant that's been vegging for about two months or so...!!!... they are in a mixture of fox farm soil ocean forest and happy frog 50/50 mix... in 20 gallon totes... its only on the newer growth .!.
Any added drainage Nickman? 90 litres (20 gal) of soil would drain rather slowly, and i think im having a similar issue. Not that the leaves you posted looked waterlogged. I had the crinkly twist on my fans also like your first pic but without the yellow edges.
That's funny u said that about draining slow... I've got four plants in these 20 gallon totes that are vegging under my T5's...
they were draining way too slow for my liking and I actually had a problem with one of the plants drooping very bad... I think it was the start of root rot... I went out and bought 3 more box fans to blow air onto the plants... I had only one fan at first...
Things have gotten better since all the extra air blowing on the plants... I don't think I'll go this big in pot size ever again... I'll stay at 10 gallons at the biggest...
They just take way too long to dry out under the T5... I'll put them in flower soon under 1000 watt...
And yes I drilled tons of drainage holes on the bottom and lower sides... at first I only had drainage holes on the bottom...
Hey Nickman ... didnt mean extra holes although that is good, I meant perlite/hydroton/fytocell etc. Any ammendment to the soil? Some soils dont drain like others do. Pagron batmix which im in now is super absorbent and does not dry out quick. And 80% of the pot is rooted out.
It dawned on me that with those containers drainage takes ages, and dialling in the watering/feeding schedule is a lot harder in a large capacity container.
I have 25l pots which I have clearly over saturated, and I am waiting for dry out. I also have noticed the pH is off, managed to get a cheap soil meter yesterday, and it seems the worst looking plants have a very low ph (4.5 - 5.5) at the base of the pot, and nearer the tops the pH is closer to neutral. Now that I have seen this I am less sure of what I originally thought the problem was and that was BM. I have heat treated the room also, and saw that growth wasnt mutated like a previous BM outbreak I dealt with at another place. I did ammend pots with additional EWC and Cal-Sea-feed. It seems the excess calcium is causing the "retarded growth" - and cal is best absorbed at 5 - 6 pH so that makes sense.
I had almost the exact same issues, and it was Mg deficiency. I was surprised, as I was using a nute with plenty of Mg in it, but after adding Cal/Mg+ with the waterings, it did fix it.
I haven't had any Mg or micronutrient issues since switching to H&G A/B.
The Ocean Forest is amended to supply food for around 5-6 weeks, the Happy Frog is 3-4 weeks. What are they getting fed now that the soil amendments are depleted?
I guarantee my left nut its going to be one of the following problems.
1. Soil is depleted and plants need a solid base nutrient regimen to be introduced.
2. Plants are already getting a base nutrient regimen, but lack of runoff is causing it to lock out the medium, in which case a flush and better runoff regimen will fix it. (or the food they're being fed is lousy)
3. The plants have outgrown the t5's and are metabolizing at a faster rate than the lighting can support.
