Cabinet grow setup/help

WARNING: 1st time grower alert

I want to go to home depot and get a cabinet for flowering and a smaller one for vegging....I currently have a 400 watt HPS light and a 250 watt MH light..I was wondering what size cabinets you all suggest...which model numbers for veg/flower.....ALSO...is there any guide as to how to transform the cabnet to a grow cab....I have all the basic ideas in my head but I bet other experienced people have good tips and better ideas...dunno...letme know...




BTW im growing some Top 44 and some REZ wonder diesel....

Hello there fellow noob

Why not buy a wardrobe ( the kind you keep clothes in) & use that with your 400w in & an old set of drawers for vegging with the 250 , just a thought ?

I am plannin on using a closet/cabnet/wardrobe for the flowering...was wondering wich moden number of them home depot ones is good for a 400 watter...(the ones everyone has c-XX)...as far as VEG im open to any ideas..anything that will work and wont cost an arm and a leg...dont have extra drawers laying around.....off to work!...

I just finished building a C24 for my 400w setup I would reccomend using that size model as opposed to the smaller C25. You also need to pick up some wood to put on the back panel (because its cheap cardboard). Have them cut the wood to the right size for you there. I had them cut 2 identical pieces 24" x 68" of particle board seems to be working fine so far.

i like that cabinet major...but you think that will handle a 400 watt HPS and a 250 watt MH...do you think that cabinet will be able to handle them both?...also how many plants do you think you can flower in there with the divider in? any other suggestions would be grand!...

currently i have 10 girls under the screen when i put the devider back in i know 4plants will fit i may squeeze 6 in there in stuffed 2gal grow bags. i know i could place 20 double potted 2 liter soda bottels for clone ive messured. as for 250 mh 1 side 400w other side i see no reason why not you'll need to vent each side seperately. i use this to exhaust my 400w light now i'll incorperate this into a cool tube for the 400w hps next round http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=29341 my 400w hps sits on top shelf and 2 70 cfm bathroom fans exhaust the top and keep heat from ballast building up. i cut a 4in hole just under top shelf for my modded stanly blower fan mounts outside and a 5x4 reducer coupling runs inside of cab hooks upto 4inch ducting run to mogul for 400w hps. i'm unable to adjust my light now but next run i'll be abel to i can have my hand about 12 inch from bottom of light now in a cool tube he he closer. but honestly if your worried about heat cfl's on the veg side are great and you could even veg in the flower chamber under the hps n/p for few wks also if needed. exhausting the heat away from the cab preferably outta the room the cab is in should be done. i live in a desert where my average temps during july-aug are usally above 110 degrees i run my lighting at night to help keep cab cooler. before i added the stanly blower fan my cabs temps ran mid 80's now they run 77-78 degrees at lights out house temp set 77 deg my current 12/12 is 6pm-6am for 18/6 would be 6pm - 12pm noon for summer months. my fresh air intake is passive not forced it consists of 2 - 4 inch holes cut on side of cab center bottom. i blocked 1 off for this grow but it will come in handy next run for mum and clone erea

not setup for the 250 also. i can fit 20 one gallon pots in there or about 5 five gallon buckets(thats pushing it to the max)

how can i use this in my ventilation system and still have it help get rid of the smell?...

I know its not nearly enough CFM to help with the temps.....

if youre wanting to grow in a cab a cooltube is a must have. a good steady air(intake) flow is also needed so heat doesn't biuld up. the only way you could use that light without a cooltube is to build a shelf out of glass with the light inlosed and air vented out of that portion.(cooltube is alot easier and doesn't cost that much more),,,,,,,,dwtc
