Cab Location Problem

F

Hey, all I am planning on doing a stealth cabinet studio grow. I am going to be doing a 400watt hps dwc scrog grow. about 4-6 plants depending. I dont know any measurements yet of the cab or my place.

My problem is I want my cab in this area in my apartment, but the only problem is that I have no electrical sockets in that area. And if I try and wire an extension cord to my cabinet I think it will look kind of sketchy. I am just trying to figure out a way to get electricity to my cab in a stealthy way. Or I am just thinking of putting it in a different location with a socket near it. But at the same time I have people over so I rather not have it out in the open while were hangin out in that area. So what are my options on what I can do? Thanks.

you do have an electrical outlet in that area. Just punch a whole through the wall, hook up to the bathroom outlet. I mean, make it professional, use a box and recepts. Use the same color scheme as the ones in there and the landlord will probably not even notice the new outlet.

good luck

Lose the DWC... I ran it, PITA.
I re'mod'd unit to Ebb & Flow and results are much better. Use as a big a squirrel fan to cool light.

I put mine 45 degrees to the corner and next to two windows for air.
good luck

By the way the red area isnt my whole cabinet/wardrobe it's the area I can use to put the cabinet/wardrobe.

kdk-lothnar: I would honestly try that if it were my house, but I just dont want to risk it in my apartment.

donniedarko: will see I am just trying to keep it within size of the wardrobe I want to use for my grow.

I am thinking about just getting a small cabinet instead of a wardrobe if I have no choice but to not grow in the space that I want to. So I would use that small green space on my diagram. I am going to have to keep it really small and super stealth if I want to do that. I really dont want to have no option but to grow in a small mini cab grow setup... Any more suggestions would be great. Thanks for the suggestions and help

I mean I guess I could do that if thats my only choice to get power into that little room. I dont think I have enough electrical experience to wire up my own outlets, how hard is it? If I do do it I am going to try and hide the outlet behind some of my boxes in there so that no one would notice unless they moved the boxes. Because alot of people go in and out of that area to get to the bathroom. Is there possibly anything else I could possibly do to get power in that area without cutting my walls and making a whole new outlet area. Thanks for the help.

By the way is there anyway I can just make a hole in the wall and tap an extension cord or somethin up to the outlet in my bathroom and use that to get electricity instead of making a whole new outlet?

Thats called hard wiring, and yes its POSSIBLE to wire an extension cord into an outlet but I wouldnt do it.

Supplies needed

Knife
Screwdriver
Hammer
Outlet
Outlet Box
Couple feet of wire, the CORRECT wire
Step one, cut hole for outlet box (get at home depot) cut it opposite your bathroom outlet.

Step two insert your new box and install it how the insturctions tell you, knock one of the plugs out in the back of the box for wires.

Now go turn your power off for the bathroom plug, if you dont know what breaker does what , turn all that shit off I hate getting shocked.

open up the bathroom plug cover and unscrew the outlet, your gonna see two wires hooked on the outlet and depending on how its wired there may be a bunch of white wires screwed together in the back.

If there is, take the wire that you have for the new outlet and hook the white into the bundle of whites and the black onto the existing bathroom outlet black side where the other black wire is.

If there isnt, hook the white wire onto the white side of the outlet and the black on the black side.

pull the wires threw your new box and wire up the new outlet, black to black side, white to white.

Screw it all back together, turn the power on, and cross your fingers hold one foot at an angle and hop twice

and BINGO a new outlet for you my friend.

Anyways if anyone sees something I missed lemme know but that sounds right to me :]

I would add that they should probably cut the power before they cut the hole since they don't know what is back there... take time and be careful, you can always fix a sliced wire, just don't freak out.

Being bit by 110v isn't that bad, but don't recommend it.

Very easy to hide... besides, done right and it will look great.

Bignugget - Thanks for the info, installing a new outlet seems easier then I thought it would be. What do you recommend me use to cut the wall? Also what wires are the ones I need to use in order to wire it all up?

kdk-lotnar - Thanks for the heads up I am going to make sure I switch that outlet off before I do anything haha...

-Thanks

put a smaller dresser or something next to your cab, then put an aquarium on top of it, that way running an extension cord over to that part of the room won't look suspicious, it'll also cover up any noise from the cab as well.

Funny story when I worked maintenance I was installing a dishwasher, I was cutting a hole like I am suggesting because I needed to drop power down from above the counter to power the DW, I grabbed the sawzaw (who kows how to spell that?) and went to town, the resident sitting in the other room. Two seconds later BANG water spraying all the hell over. So all this guy sees is me running a saw, then jumping up and just balls out run out of his house and leave a massive flood in progress, I was heading to the back of the building to kill the water I had just cut a hidden supply line for the bathroom :]

So good advice to go slow and be careful :]

yeah, I drilled through a 240 line for my stove while installing some decorative sheets of metal... blew the shit out of my bit and scared the shit out of me. Nothing like the time a ground slipped in the box and hit the main... I can still feel my heart pounding.

Hope you had a shop vac and not a mop for all that water...

Good idea with the aquarium, just take care of the fish.

Bignugget - Haha thanks for all the help ill make sure to shut the power off and go slow when I start to saw my way through. I dont think it should be that hard to saw it cause I think its drywall.

D0nC0smic - Thats actually a really good idea I didn't think about that. Also I was actually thinking about getting fish for my place, but at the same time I thought it was pointless, but now that you bring that up I think I might do that. i just gotta save up alittle bit of extra money for the whole aquarium.

Thanks for all the help guys and I think I may go with just going with an aquarium and putting my wardrobe next to it. Possibly using the under part of the aquarium for vegging and clones
