cab build questions

I am currently setting up a closetmaid wardrobe from homedepot
http://www.closetmaid.com/Look/Product_Catalog/product.cfm?product_id=1275#
and was wondering as the flower chamber will only be 24x20 if a 170 cfm fan scrubber combo
http://www.htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=52531
would be enough to keep temps under control.
The exhaust will be venting out the 150 HPS cooltube through the scrubber and into the room. I was wondering if you all felt that the 160cfm fan it comes with would be enough?
The other veg and clone chambers will have separate ventilation as they shouldn't be a smell issue.

Well I hope it was cause I order it anyways :)
Figuring on going with a sealed box pulling fresh air from below the chamber. I will be leaving the kick panel off the back of the cab.
The veg/mother chamber will be using 96 watts of T5HO lights each of the 4x24 bulbs will have its on icecap reflector.
I still have to figure out what I want to put in the cloning chamber. nothing to bright tho I am sure.

I had a 150 HPS in a similar sized box that I cooled with a 76 CFM axial fan. 160 CFM should do you fine. Fair warning, the inline fans are LOUD. There are things you can do to quiet them such as mufflers, speed controls, fan isolation boxes. Even then, unless you can put the fan in the attic or lock people out of the grow room, any sense of stealth will be shot to hell.

Shouldn't be a huge problem But if it is I will have to isolate the fan in something sound proof like an igloo cooler or something.

I'm using that same 4" setup from HTG with the elf carbon scrubber to cool a cabinet MUCH smaller then your's. To many people think they need a large fan pushing high CFM's, it's the design of the cabinet and ventilation that is important.

My set up:
400 watts CMH lighting in an area currently 36wide X 30deep X 20 high with a 4 inch fan and scrubber running in the 70's. No AC, and nothing else cooling the cab. Note, the height of 20 inches is current height, of course I can adjust the height but I've had it as low as 14 inches and the lower I put the hood, the lower the temps go.

what would you say they rate for noise?
I think it will work fine the room is never really hot and the heat will have plenty of room to rise away from the plants as the height of the chamber is like 60 inches and I do not plan on ever letting the plants get much higher then 30 inches.
I plan to have the fan in the cab hanging by bungie cords to kill vibration. the chamber will be sealed and door opening weather stripped.
Should work just fine.

When I say loud, I don't mean your ears will bleed. I mean it's loud enough to demand explanation. When I used the axial, it and the ballast gave out a tiny but noticable whrr and humm. Coming from the back of an old freezer, the freezer "took the rap" and the noise became invisible for lack of a better term.

Now I'm running a 4" 150 CFM Elicent which I'm relatively certain is quieter than yours. Muffled, isolated and set to low with a speed controller, I still can't let anyone in the garage because there's nothing to take the rap. The only explanation is the truth and it's an explanation I don't care to give.

I normally have a fan or 2 running in the room year round because I sleep better with the white noise so hopefully I can use them to drown out the sound of the cab. plus this summer The room has A/C running almost 24/7 to add to the ambient noise of the room. Its not a life or death thing as it is in the bedroom which of off limits to outsiders and all that. Very excited about my first grow thats for sure!!

There is noise, but it's not to bad. I have an air pump, they are about as loud as one another. I'm just wrapping up my building my cabinet and noise is last on the list for me but there are a number of things you can do. I didn't "hang" my fan, I don't have any vibration noise from the fan so I didn't need to hang it.

One thing that can be done is to make your ventilation ducting from straight sheet metal tubing rather than the accordion type of dryer ducting. The air will flow more quietly over a smooth surface. However, I really think that the idea of putting the fan up in the attic is the best way to go….even though it’s a pain to do. Peace of mind that no one can detect your set-up is a good thing.

wat ya can do is make a fan box so the fan sits in a box an has ducting runing in one side an out the other. an get some dynomat its for car audio, subwoofers that are mad loud an shack the trunk, you use it to keep the noise inside the car.i havent tryied it yet for my fan but i have it covering my trunk an it keps alot of the noise in the car thats for sure.

Yea I thought about that I might use the top chamber as a scrubber and fan chamber and sound proof the hell out of it.

Just an idea I looked into, you can get used studio sound proofing on ebay really cheap. People use insulation and I'm sure it works but, for a few bucks more you can get the real deal and something specificly designed for what you want it to do. Just my 2 cents, if it's a concern for you, do it right the first time around and know you get it right. Wonder into that DIY arena and you spend more money and time then you would have if you just bought bought the right thing from the start. I'll be adding it shortly myself.
