CA ID no good??

Got kicked out of one of the dispensaries for only having a CA ID and not a CA driver's license.

They told me the reason for it was because someone else got in trouble for using a fake ID. I've been a CA resident for 5 years with a home. Since I don't drive in CA, I was told by the state to get the doctor's recommendation and a California ID which has not been a problem until now. They said if I bring back a utility bill with a proof of residence on it, they MAY decide to let me in! I can do that but should I have to??

I'm actually not going to bitch about this, they are not worth the trouble, but that sure seems illegal to throw someone out of a dispensary for having the legal paperwork. Got made to feel like a crook by my local dispensary with my paperwork. That's a first for me. That happen to anyone else? Hope this is not a trend.

They are just looking out for themselves and their members. Doesnt sound like it would be too hard for you to bring additional paperwork for them to make it easy on everyone .

I'll probably just go to their competition who are pretty friendly. Don't like being made to feel shame for having a med condition . I'm sure some people have bogus IDs, but I have been going to the place for 4 years. I do think that they may have been hassled by the local LE over this, but when you have to start worrying about that stuff, you may as well move on.

The question I have, if anyone should be willing to chime in is mostly legal - can they throw you out for having an ID and not a license? In all honesty, I feel bad for them if they are being harassed, I have known this guy for years, but I signed up for the "legal" meds so I could avoid all that.

Its their collective, their rules, they can do what they feel is necessary to keep their collective safe. Some places are tough like that. I have a state MMJ program card, most places won't take it so I have to lug my paper doctor recommendation around with me and bring it everytime with my CA ID or DL.

I'm sorry they treated you that way, I would look for a different place to find your meds and by word of mouth would let people know which dispensary and what they did...that one maps sight, you know the search engine for dispensaries...they do reviews on there, and on other sites as well...let people know and maybe they will change their policies.

Thanks for the responses. I found out there are additional complaints about this place so I don't think they will make it too long with those tactics, but they may have a good reason for doing it so I don't want to ne too harsh on them..

That is so not the point Mr. Zuke. He shouldn't have to bring anything but his "Legal" ID and his Original script. If they have a fake ID issue they need to go use the proper ID checker because its "Their" problem not yours. I have never heard of this happening, an am sorry they made you feel that way. Dispos need to remember their place sometimes......to serve patients compassionately. This word gets used way to loosely these days.

The only way to get around this is to go in and let them know you are going to their competition because of their business practices and give a proper review of said events warning others.

x2. If the cutty gas stations in the middle of nowhere where I live have ID scanners then why can't a dispensary?

Reminds me of San Jose. Doesn't matter if you have an ID and verifiable mmj card, if you don't have the written paper with the stamp and doctor's sig they don't let you in...which is kinda stupid. It's a lot easier for me to steal or fake a stamp/signature than to hack onto a database and add my info without detection.

They are each issued by the same agency ! They must have been really shaken up over the attempted fraud .
