I'm currently running two 400hps in a 6x6 space. I know I'm not getting a good spectrum w/ the bulbs I have. Would appreciate any advice on new bulbs. Thanks

What do you mean about the spectrum not being good? My 400 performs very well with a plain old 400 HPS bulb availble at Home Depot for $20. Your two 400s are covering a pretty large space, what kind of compromises are you making for plants receiving low light levels? How many are you trying to grow under them?
Upgrading to 430 watt specialty bulbs may not do you any good if you have standard 400 watt ballasts, though that's not exactly my area of expertise.

Yeah, I have to ask why you don't think your spectrum is "good"?
The 430's were originally designed to go into the 400 watt ballasts I believe, so that wouldn't be a problem, but I grow strictly with hps bulbs and have no problems.
I just replace the bulbs once a year. :smile:

I have used Hortilux before but I can't provide a comparison between that and a regular HPS. I bought the bulb when I bought my whole fixture and I'm not using that setup anymore so it never had to be replaced. Anyway, if you are looking for names to research Hortliux is a respected one.
