Bust not adding up

A cat I know recently got popped with a couple of pounds of herb and some BHO in the mail in a draconian state no less.
He said they all showed up warrentless, but he consented and they took his shit that was mailed but left his stash and bongs. They told him to get rid of it because the local popo might tack on charges when they come to get him?

He wasnt arrested or booked, they let him go back home and told him to wait and it might even take up to a couple of years to indict him? Does this make any sense?

Am I missing something here or will they eventually get around to charging and arresting him after the fact?

Sounds fishy. I was thinking initially he got robbed but why not take it all if that was the case?

He definitely didnt get ripped cause there were legit k9 and state cars there.

And a SHITLOAD of plainclothes. Must have been a slow day for them

Need to know more of the story.what state.did he admit to knowing what was in the mail? And yes someone is going to jail over this

Consenting to a warrant less search sounds fishy to me.

I agree and the only way that I can make sense of this is:

He was mailing stuff which makes it a federal offense and by the letter of the law requires a warrant. Because it was a federal offense and because its such a pain in the ass to pull a warrant at the fed level, they turned it over to the local guys for help and pulled the ole scare tactic without a warrant maneuver on him. He caved, the fed boys took their product and told the local cops that they could decide to bring charges if they declined.

I agree that it doesnt make a whole lot of sense.
And fwiw the state he got busted in is Virginia, they arent nice here when it comes to the plant.

Which is it? Was he receiving or mailing? Or both? USPS, UPS, Fed-Ex, what service was it? Didn't go to jail because they are most likely watching him. In their eyes he is a dealer with 2 pounds.

Someone already gave the best answer. Move out of state.

Tip: Do not answer the door when the cops are on the front porch.

Sumpin's screwy. State cops and K-9 but left him his his stash? In a draconian state no less? Nope, no cop is gonna do that unless they're using using it for bait. Your bud might have been promised a lighter sentance if he brings in some fish.

My advice? Distance yourself from that cat, don't drive dirty, remove anything incriminating from your house, and if asked anything about any involvement, deny, deny, deny. And keep in mind it is legal for cops to lie to you. That is, of course, unless you want to spend some time behind bars. :tiphat:

This could be the story he made up so he could get out of paying the person that sent him the contraband.

Next time make them pay up front.

depends on what part of Virginia he is in. some places up around DC, this would make sense. Scott or Wise county near Tennessee border, they would have kicked in his door & had the SWAT team go in with flashbangs & AR15s at the ready. them potheads are violent and dangerous, ya know? Virginia really needs to be cut into 2 or 3 states, as does Tennessee.

if this is a rat story, it's a strange rat story
of course it pays to be paranoid as possible
police informers usually have plausible stories, so as the OP has noted, it doesn't sound right
well, nothing good can come from it, head down and looking every where at once

he's the receiver on the east coast and the person they are after is on the shipping end. probably just needed evidence for a warrant on some west coast shipper.

there are lots of possible reasons they didn't bust the guy, perhaps he looked small time and they were after another player who was getting a bigger shipment?

maybe they had plans to meet strippers and couldn't be bothered to process him that day…

the person who mailed to this guy better lube up.

Met him once or twice and never cared for the dude. Distance is easy.

iuno . sounds super sketchy to me.. did you actually drive by and see a bunch of cops? and did they actually take anything? because in reality.. they NEVER would justbe like ok. your getting weed sent in the mail bye.. no they would be like. ok. your setting up the person sending this.. or.. else..

so my suggestion is . stay away from this kid .1 he either lied to you about why the cops were there.. or 2.. he got busted. and is a snitch for them now.. going to collect packages from the dude sending them.. so they can bust a ring sending from there to here lol.

The local K9 and the state car along with a shitload of undercovers/unmarked were witnessed. As well as the initial 'receiver' aka the guy who let the dogs out was stopped by a marked car. Its still early to know how snitchy he will be, but I thnk that might be where he will end

This could be the story he made up so he could get out of paying the person that sent him the contraband.

I wish that were the case for this dude he has a girl and kid to look after. Im sure he would much rather deal with the wrath of someone across state lines than feds within them

The last thing I heard was he was told to contact a detective at the advice of his lawyer so that he can get a better idea of when they plan to indict him. This way he can save on a couple of home repair costs to his front door, or some serious embarassment at work.

If it happened here it would go down as a big story in the paper unless he agreed to introduce an informant on deals right away. I knew a guy years ago who did the same thing. He had people with guns looking for him. He busted every dealer at the University. You will find out what's going on soon enough. In the mean time I wouldn't say anything to him or any "new friends".

maybe they noticed the red circle at Krispy Kreme had just come on as they headed for his place? :tiphat:
