Hey Ace I'm wondering if you guys have ever come across a landrace Burmese? I remember Reeferman used to offer one but than he fell off the face of the earth. The terpenoid profile on it is supposed to be amazing, unlike anything in the states. I know you guys are like the supreme council on landrace sativas so I figured I'd ask here. :tiphat:

Hi GerardButler79 :)

I have no experienced breeding with burmese sativas. I think i tried some of reeferman's burmese hybrids years ago and for what i remember they were surprisingly high yielding, main cola and squat.

Reeferman had great IBLs and landraces but we grew a few of them and they were clearly semi stabilized hybrids and not pure landraces, that was the case of cambodian haze which was indeed great but was not a straight cambodian sativa x haze F1 hybrid.

We are very busy working on our reproductions this season, focusing our energies to improve and to re stock most of our catalogue strains. Hopefully a few new offerings will be available around autumn but we dont plan to breed with new landraces till sept '11.

The description of the terpenoid profile is what sold me on the Burmese too Gerard. I came across some 05' stock from Reef but haven't been able to get any to pop thus far, only got 3 left and I don't think they're gonna be viable. I wish someone like dubi or charlie would look into this one myself or I this will be another one of many that I'll never get to experience.

I was gifted some reeferman burmese seeds from '94. I have three going outside. One big confirmed female and two smaller plants..one undetermined and the other suspected male. If I do get a male and female I will make more seeds..even with the small numbers...just to see if there is something special. One interesting thing about the strain is all the leaves on the plant seem to be the same size..from top to bottom there are no big fan or smaller leaves they are all uniform its so strange..

Reefs Burmese is good pot, I doubt it was a pure sat or landrace though.

Why do you doubt it being pure or landrace? Growth structure, type of high? From my understanding it was sativa effects on a plant that grows something like an indica, did you experience something different?

I bought some 05' stock that didn't sprout well, then an ol' timer gifted me a few more, from the same stock I think. Out of about 15 beans total, I have 3 left that I'm scared to try and pop from fear of disappointment.

Please keep us posted if you decide to make some seed angustotse:thank you:

To me it grew and smoked like a mostly sativa IBL, except the leaves looked more indica/wide.

Reeferman released great hybrids and inbred lines, no doubt. I can not speak in depth about his burmese but im glad to see you are still growing it. Best wishes and please reproduce it if you find it interesting!
