Burmese Purple Smoke Report

I have a grow thread on these ladies but thought it time to do a smoke report as i am smoking some of this beautiful lady now.
2 Weeks dry with little curing this plant was flushed for one week and cut to ensure a good reveg, she is poppong out new leaves already!
I have many to test but this thread will be on the colorful purple and pinkish phenotypes.
The color of the buds, dry and growing are a beautiful thing to see with a mix of purple/green. The dry buds are less bright as expected but covered in resin and tight.
When you break the dyied buds you get a light sour smell light blueberrries and earthy undertones. Not sweet smelling like some plants this white she is unique in my garden.
Th smoke is light tasting with little expansion and no roughness like some sativas. Clean burning and easy smoking these buds give a happy, talkitive buzz that can be overpowering. Wondeful for stress and pain this is strong medicine. Not a couchlock and not a racy sativa buzz..nicely in between.

I wish I had a joint of that beautiful bud to smoke. I haven't smoked in over a month. I love the purple highlights mixed in with the green. Nice looking buds man.

Excellent looking bud MOD. I've got some of Reef's Potent Purple outdoor
along with his Cherry Thai. Hoping to see them purple highlights on some of
my buds this fall. Been slow going so far, seeing alot of the mutation from
the OPT. Anyway, looking forward to trying your gear sometime in the future.
Your sativas look impressive. Peace.

Wow that bud is beautiful. I think I need a joint to see if it smokes as good at it looks though :joint:.

I'm not familiar with "Burmese Purple".....is that a Burmese sativa x a blue hybrid?

oh, yeah...lose the ugly yellow plastic grinder ;) ...get yourself a quality wooden grinder, lol

actually, any grinder is better than using your fingers or scissors to break up bud

I used my fingers to break up some bud the other day for the first time in ages (as I always use a herb grinder). Even though I tried to be careful, I still couldn't get over how much was stuck to my fingers !..what a waste of the best trichomes!

When a grinder is used the explosion of resin heads is contained in the grinding chamber and of course a grinder gives the most even cut perfect mix for rolling or piping...knives or scissors squash and cut while grinders pull apart and blend the herbs without squashing and do it with minimal trichome loss.

if you are not using a good herb grinder, then you are wasting trichomes....quality kif retails for as much as gold, a good grinder will last for kgs of use if well maintained..

How to maintain your wooden herb grinder so it keeps working like new forever!

- start by buying a good quality herb grinder. Test it in the shop by holding together and turning it. Hold the bottom section facing up in your palm and spin the top part of the grinder with a quick flick. A grinder with a good action will spin freely and evenly. Avoid any grinders with a tight or rough action and also keep away from grinders that have pins clicking or scraping. Dark, heavy, close grained hard woods are best. Herb grinders with magnets to hold them together are convenient too!

- when the unit is gumming up with resin and is slower to operate (turn) then it's time to clean it.

- fold a piece of sandpaper in half so it measures approx 1 x 1 1/2 inches / 2.5 cm x 3.8 cm.

- Use medium to fine grit sandpaper, "80" or "100" grit sandpaper works fine.

- bend the sandpaper in a curve shape and rub the resin build up off the adjoining areas of the two grinder sections.

- make sure to sand off the resin build up and not the wood itself, just lightly sand off all the resin...the outer curved wall is easy, but the inward facing wall requires a bit more work.

- I sometimes use a blade to scrape off the main blobs of resin first then sand it smooth, but a knife alone won't do the job, only a sandpaper will restore your wood grinder to working like new.

- you can use alcohol to clean the pins, but this may affect the finish of the grinder, leaving a whitish marks after the stain is rinsed out...anyway, good wooden grinders have stainless steel pins and so are slow to get build up, they sort of self clean, so I leave them alone.

- with proper use you can get much longer use of your grinder before the needs for scraping/sanding/cleanings. I use my grinder about 2 or 3 times per day and I end up cleaning it about every month or so....I'm not sure, but it's not that often.

-To prevent up resin build up make sure the herbs are placed inside the smaller "circle" and don't let leaves over hang or they might get caught between the two sections..​

I prefer titanium grinders myself-more durable-pins do not get loose-perfect cutting pin cutting angle.

Some come with a kief screen. I do not use a kief screen and have no problems losing trichs.

Grinders are the schiznit to be sure.

Here are pictures of a Pink sister of the Purple.
@ Chamba, The pics are of several Burmese Pure ladies, some of which turned colors and will kept and bred for thier wonderful hues and great buzz. All from ReeferMan seeds. The green ones are very nice as well and i will compare them after some curing.

It's obviously not 100% from Burma (Burma lies between Thailand and India)...anything with a tight bud structure like that would definitely mold before finishing in humid Burma..so it's highly improbable that this strain is derived 100% from Burmese landrace genes.

....I wonder what it was crossed with the landrace to shorten the flowering duration and tighten the buds?...to me those plants above look like a 25% ~ 35% sativa land race crossed with a blue/berry sativa hybrid.

I grew Blue Haze a few years ago and was very happy with the results......I'd like to grow the Burmese too!

In the north, the Hengduan Shan mountains form the border with China. The fertile plains of the Ayeyarwady and Thanlwin Rivers are in the central lowlands of Myanmar. Most of the country's population lives on these central plains. The Shan Plateau lies east of Mandalay. In the south, the Ayeyarwady River fans out into a wide and fertile delta. Many crops are grown in this region, which borders the Andaman Sea. The Thanlwin flows into the Gulf of Martaban, which also indents the southern coast of Myanmar, and drains into the Andaman Sea.

Some diverisity you could say.. So i don't think the Burmese is a sativa or pure indica but something in between, but i do believe it is a landrace from Burma.

Kachin State (Jingphaw Mungdan), is the northernmost state of Myanmar. It is bordered by China to the north and east; Shan State to the south; and Sagaing Division and India to the west. It lies between north latitude 23° 27' and 28° 25' longitude 96° 0' and 98° 44' . The area of Kachin State is 34,379 sq. miles. The capital of the state is Myitkyina. Other important towns include Bhamo.

Kachin State has Myanmar’s highest mountain, Hkakabo Razi, at 5889 meters in height, forming the southern tip of the Himalayas, and Myanmar’s largest lake, Indawgyi Lake.

Kalidestroyer - you seem convinced!...

and you seem to know lots about the background of this strain.......where in Burma did this strain come from? or was it from seeds some guy gave another guy who said they came from Burma? ..or something inbetween?

and I have to admit ...on a second look at your pics ..it seems more sativa ..and those buds might be ok many areas with a dryish November finish...and some buds that are slim and loose can mold while some strain's buds are as tight as and yet don't readily mold, so you can't go by looks alone

It would be nice to hear from RM about this strain ..if he has the time....to pop in and let us all know about how he first got the seeds or cutting and how it was bred.

It bet there's a different story behind every the acquisition, test growing, sampling, selection, breeding and so on for every strain.

Kali - I'm interested to hear about your opinions about the high from the other Burmese too...I'm considering this strain!
