900 Pot Plants Seized in Ramona Raid

RAMONA — Sheriff’s deputies responding early Saturday to a burglar alarm at a commercial business park in Ramona uncovered an indoor marijuana farm with 900 plants and $50,000 worth of growing equipment.

After discovering some marijuana plants during the 3 a.m. call, sheriff’s deputies called in the multi-agency Narcotics Task Force, which includes the Sheriff’s Department, San Diego police, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and U.S. Bureau of Land Management.

Warrants were served on several suites at the complex. The task force found a series of growing areas within the business park, according to the Sheriff’s Department. Officials estimated the street value of the seized plants at $2.7 million.

Agents arrested 30-year-old Edward Hanson on charges of possession of marijuana for sale and cultivation of marijuana, according to county jail records.

Yea, I had a monitored alarm system. When I started growing I stopped setting it, then decided not to bother having the alarm monitored. I cancelled the alarm service and unhooked the phone line from the system.
I do set it, as we do not have a loud siren on the system, only the keypads that make noise. If someone enters and trips the alarm, they have no idea if it's monitored and will probably run away. The keypads are not loud enough to get the neighbors attention...But with my neighbors, if they see someone messing with anyone's house they come out with rifles and shotguns. I am surrounded by a lot of very friendly hunter country boys who have respect for other peoples things.
I also have five dogs who go ape shit when they hear a UPS or FedEx truck anywhere in the neighborhood. They learned the few delivers we have are tied to those truck sounds and they are barking before the truck even comes to a stop outside.

Building my have a "central" burglar alarm system. I'm in property management and a few of the commercial complexes we manage have a "central" burglar alarm and limit hours of operation. For example, one complex is limited to conducting business between the hours of 6AM-12AM. At midnight, the alarm automatically arms itself. It is disclosed in the lease.

That could be the only reason I could think of anyone having a burglar alarm on a grow op.

i got an alarm with a remote so if anyone tries me they'll have my armed neighbors to deal with and my 120lb dogs. I think they're a valuable tool if used responsibly and in a med state of course.
