bunk seeds or not?

I set 4 seeds to soak in water in a dark place with a crushed up birth control pill for 3 nights. The seeds didn't break open or swell much. I put them in a jiffy 7 mini green house to sprout them just right now. If the seeds didn't break in the water, dose that mean they're no good? Thanks for looking!

Anyway, I don't know where your getting your info, but i've never met a grower from O.C. who knew what they were doing (and yes i know some), so please get your info from here, not there.

temp- 73 f. seeds- from another plant that was fertlized. birth control- I've germinated before with 4 and I got all females. I read in a book that the estrogen helps with fertility and can increase femininity.
I think that every time I post I have to ask everyone to try and not to be a jerk when answering questions. just the whole "until you know what your doing" attitude is rude to me. yeah, its my second batch and I'm not afraid of asking a simple question. please don't post back if your just going to let me know you think I'm an idiot and not be helpful.

Not trying to be an ass....just gets frustrating after a while because there are many people who don't search for their answers first before posting. I've read the birth control thing before as well, i just think that while a person is in their first few grows that should try to keep things as simple as possible. it's just a lot easier to answer questions before too many variables have been entered into the equation.

Anyway, your temps seem fine. Are you using tap water or bottled?

if the seeds are not doing anything, the shell may be too thick for the plant to break through. Roll them around on a piece of sandpaper (or carefully crack them between your fingers as a last resort) and you can find out whether this is the problem.

It's also possible that as homemade seeds, they could simply not be viable. if thats true, then its a shame, and you'll have to start more seeds if you've got them.

I think i actually live pretty close to you, and have some seedlings that i'm about to throw out because i don't have a place to grow right now. If you had enough posts, i would pm you about that. Anyway, best of luck.

3 days in water is a fair bit of time, but some seeds are tougher than others. they may pop yet .
