It always sucks to lose a friend. It's amazing how animals become a part of your life and family. I remember driving past the vet and I saw my bro's car outside so I stopped. I knew it was his Dane, he had been declining for awhile. Awesome dog. So I stop and he's saying his last goodbye before the vet put him. He was crying, I was crying and it wasn't even my dog.

Sorry for your loss.

yeah - hard to bear the loss - I know - all those great memories come flooding back -

Always sad that a dogs life is so short - but then again - got to look on the bright side - I see a new puppy popping up soon in your life <he says while polishing his crystal ball - lol>

Sorry for the loss AOH, I'm very familiar with the Plott hound breed as my area is big on dog rescue and I'm surrounded by their decendents.

Wonderful dogs, all of em.:tiphat:

I feel your pain, it took me a long time to get over the loss of my doberman and I swore he was the last, yet here I am with another one. Chihuahua this time.

I worked for an English woman who ran an incredible kennel - fresh food, lots of exercise and activities for the dogs. Great experience working there until I lost track of a microdot of acid while hosing down a run and had to spend an hour on my hands and knees until I found it. Didn't care about the LSD but was terrified a dog would swallow it.

She told me that a dog's relatively short life was a blessing. It meant that humans got to spend a full life with many dogs. I look back over 4 great dogs I got to share life with. Each wildly different in every way. Each had an awesome life. Terribly sad after each passed, but only positive memories of each one.

Gotta learn to eat your own pizza crusts, until the next dog finds you.

the Plott hound is a breed originating in NC. originally bred here to hunt bears/boar, they are a amalgam of Hanover hounds from Germany which were bred for boar hunting & interbred with local dogs in the NC mountains. word is :))) that pitbulls were among the outcrosses Plott used to make his hounds a "bit" more willing to tangle with dangerous game. mine was not so vicious  she was intimidated by our cats...

here she is with the Giant Schnauzer we used to have, Sniffer. he earned that nickname. she HATED having her picture taken, normally cowering out of the room if she saw you holding a camera...

Sorry for your loss man, been through this a few times in my life. Hurts so bad but time heals, when your lost pet thinks it's been long enough they somehow introduce another great pet to become part of your life.

I got news two days ago, my lab has a tumor between his eyes and into his sinus cavity.. Vet says we have a few weeks to a few months. I get to go through this again, giving him lots of affection, rides, treats.. you know the deal. Pizza crusts and Twizzlers are his favorites.

We plant trees over our pups when they pass, AOH. Something to match their personalities.

If she's still with you, waiting to see the ground, you might consider finding something that reminds you of her disposition.

My old giant malamute is buried under a McFarland lilac out in the back yard, between the walk-in smoker and the outhouse, buried in an old military wool blanket we had, under his tree. It began blossoming a couple years ago, after planting bare-root stock originally.

I suspect you'll see another pup to help you with your diet.
