Building A new computer have questions

S

stems&seeds

I'm in the process of a build. I have a MSI Z77A-GD55 MOBD. With a EVGA Ge Force GTX 570 HD 1280 MB GDDR5 Dual PCI Express 2.0 DVI/HDMI/Display Port SLI Ready Graphics Card. I'm getting ready to purchase the CPU. My GTX-570 will blow the doors off of integrated CPU graphics. I'm only asking because its a bit cheaper by 13$. So which to get that's the question...Any thoughts.. I as going to get the one with the integrated GPU and just disable it.

Intel Core i5-2550K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Without IGP BX80623i52550K....243$

Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4000 BX80637I53570K ..230$

IME.... (25 years... though integrated GPU's haven't been around 'that' long) it's usually better to get a board without a built in GPU, especially if you're interested in top performance.

There are a lot of boards that allow you to disable the on-board GPU but the architecture still has issues with it disabled. It's nice as an emergency backup... but better to have a second, inexpensive, drop-in card as a backup instead.

He is referring to the CPU not the mother board :) .

some of the new Intel & AMD cpus has built in gpus.

I would get the Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge, less power consumption & less heat.

i think ivy bridge runs a bit hotter than sandy bridge, especially if you overclock. but might as well get the newest architecture...

Yeap... missed that one. :)

Still, the suggestion still stands... get the one without the GPU. For the same reasons. :) heheh
