What's new
  • ICMag with help from Phlizon, Landrace Warden and The Vault is running a NEW contest for Christmas! You can check it here. Prizes are: full spectrum led light, seeds & forum premium access. Come join in!

Buhb's 192w T5 powered 'Mini-SOG'...

- (2' x 2.5' x 5') TV cabinet....
- HydroFarm (8 bulb) 24w T5HO.

My medicine grows on a farm.
This is just for fun, like a bonsai. :dance013:

Flicks:

Cab needs doors and equipment.

Plenty of room for buds and ventilation.
Gonna lollipop because T5's are only "good" for 12" of light.

Pint glass for scale.

Flood Table slider, made of Cutting Board material.
Easy plant upkeep.

Random a$$ update:

Babies, for the SOG.... Decided to use up some extra soil.
18- Trainwreck (bagseed), 7- "Purple Skittles" (bagseed).
I'll keep the strongest starts.

Outdoor girls, Pre-LST.
These are Fem'd Chernobyl.

First tie down....

Nice cab… it should be when you finish it )) Nice anyway, and a lot of space for some decent herbs you’ve got there! :headbange

Are you going to flower ‘em in this box? Will you add more “warm” tubes when the babies start flowering?

Where did you install that 30w beast fan? To cool lights?

Could you please tell why are “T5's are only "good" for 12" of light”?

Chernobyl Fem – is it the Trainwreck x Trinity x Jack the Ripper strain?

Sorry for so many nub questions.

Gonna flower in this box.
Probably gonna run the same bulb combo it has now.
I wanna see how the 6400k's do.

That beastly fan is in the back of the cab.
Gonna run a small carbon filter.
I dont intend to upgrade to an HPS.
If a fan fails T5's MIGHT overheat the girls... HPS might burn my house down.

I have a shitload of experience with T5HO.
It comes from the Reef Aquarium industry.
PAR to Kelvin, Lumens to watts, IceCaps to "FishNeedIt" fixtures.
Ive run a lot of stuff over my Coral Frag Tanks,
And done way too much gawdamn reading about research... :D
The simple fact is T5HO is about "Light Spread" or Even-Temperature and PAR DISTRIBUTION.
Not penetration.
In addition, PAR values take a steep nosedive as the inches from the light source increase.
Color spectrum shifts, intensity diminishes, potential is wasted.
Im not an expert on T5's and chlorophyll production,
But Photosynthetically Available Radiation is the same everywhere.
Right spectrum, right intensity, Job Well Done.
Seriously considering overdriving some Pure Par bulbs, with a bigger ballast,
But that can wait. *evil grin*

As for Chernobyl... I wanna say thats what the cross is, but i really dont know.
I know its TGA's Chernobyl, the "Fem" I was refering to is that the seeds are the product of a Herm'd plant seeding the room.

Threw the teens outside... They'll stay out there.

Treated the Teens and the Starts with Bayer "fruit, vegetable, etc".
Cleaned the cab.
Will continue to treat with Bayer, and step it up if necessary.

This is how many flyers i had DAILY from the Teens.

I havent seen any in the Starts.
Hoping that the benificials in the Soil, plus the Bayer, will curb the young.

The crazy thing is, the Teens and Starts are HELLA healthy.
I think all my Mites, Fungus, and Nematodes have the flyers looking for better living quarters.

... Or, I could have a giant population explosion looming.

Got some of my DIY Carbon Filter supplies.

The "Rolodex - Jumbo Office Cup" fits PERFECTLY onto a common 4" Duct Flange, found at Hydro Stores.

I'll post a write up, when the rest of my stuff shows up.

Just for fun.... I mean, what's the good of a Spare Fan, if you don't use it? :D

Might make a Work Space version.
It would really help with the smell.... :smokeit:

I love this new pipe.

.... And, one of the Chernobyl girls, for good measure.
I wanna say that I planted the Germinated seeds on 4/20.

Its kinda Haze-y tho.... The day, I mean. Not Chernobyl. :rasta: :smoweed:

The outdoor girls only get 7-8 hours of direct light per day.
So, I dont expect a huge yield.... At all.

More like a 'weak' hps yield.

Hey, Buhn!
Beautiful plants! All looking very nice. That Chernobyl plants have such a large leafs.
Yeah, I agree – each is willing to use an instrument he’s best with. You’re kickin ass using T5’s!
How’s your diy scrubber? Does the fan run full speed? What kind of carbon (size) are you going to use? Hah, have been thinking to use a similar office cups but of a smaller size for my pc-grow.
Have you got doors for your cabinet already?
Thanks for info on PAR!

Chernobyl gets the leaf traits from its "Trainwreck" genetics.
Those leafs will get 10-14" wide in July. :D

T5's just make sense for my situation.
My eventual goal is to do an Aeroponic room with a few thousand Watt's of light.
I did Aero before.... Its AMAZING.

Carbon filter is in the works.
I'll let you guys know whats up.
The fan should get a decent amount of restriction.
Im fine with that, as it moves WAY too much air.

No doors for the cab, yet.
Just a Panda Plastic door.

I have "bullet-style hinges" that I'm gonna use for the doors.
They mount in a way, that the inside door edge will clear a weatherstrip gasket.
They also pull the door inward when closed.
I used them for Custom BBQ lids, wherein the lid has to seal, but also clear a lip when open

I just put the PAR stuff up, so people didnt feel the need to explain it to me.
I hate wasting people's time.
