So last year these little bugs destroyed almost half of my garden. During the budding season, they would craw inside the flower with their young ones (yellow without wing) and suck all the crystal, leaving the flower brown, dried and leafy. It was a nightmare! They are now starting to show up at my current location..which is a totally different location from last year. I've been doing research on these little pests but the only thing that I found look similar to these are the pirate bugs which is supposedly benificial? The difference Is that the pirate bugs have needle-like head that feeds on other pests. I don't see anything good about these bugs.. and need to find a safe way to get rid of it before it's too late. Here are some pics.

Sorry to hear you lost your crop, that would be a PITA.

I'm not a bug expert but I do know something about them and it does look like a plant bug to me, one that has a needle for a mouth that taps the plants juices. You'll probably find it here - http ://bugguide. net/index.php?q=search&keys=plant+bug&search=Search - mind the gaps ...

For what to do about it; just search ICMAG for 'insecticide' https://www.icmag.com/modules/Find_Threads/index.php?stext=insecticide , should give some ideas.

I will be using Neem oil (emulsified and fresh) as a systemic @ 5ml PL/Pwk to stay ahead of them.

If you are where you can expect bugs on your plants you need to plan for them.

Are you sure that it's not russet mites doing the damage? Only way you'll know if you have em is to look with a scope. Like what you would use to look at trichomes with. They look like little maggots. They attack new growth just like you said. I would check.

are your plants young and still in veg?

my plants are actually pre-flowering but that's another issue on another thread. These bugs seem to thrive more during flowering season, thats when they can reproduce, inside the flower. I've starting to see new borns now. I will try some of the suggestions and see what works for these bugs. Thank you all..

I've never heard of russet mites but I will definitely look it up. The reason why I thought it was those bugs that were doing the damage was because it started at one side of the garden. I first notice a brown, leafy flower and when I open up the bud a few of those bugs crawl out.. adults and youngs. The adults can fly, so once they sucked the trichomes dry they would fly to the next plant. The far end of the garden was fine, no bug at all. It lasted for about 2 months, they kept moving from plant to plant. I did try garlic and soap spray, non seem to help. Might have to try some commercial spray.
