I emptied my reservoirs today and noticed a shit load of bugs on my pump when I pulled it out. They look kind of like an aphid, kind of like a mite. they are pear shaped, darkish green, part black, 6 legs. Does anyone have a clue what this might be???

Please.....

thanks!!

They are root aphids....thousands of them.....What should I use that won't hurt my plants, which still look great. SM-90? Anyone? Anyone?

Whatever

i just had this problem in my hydro system, i had many root aphids attack and the product that did it for me was sm-90. that product is amazing, i just started a thread a few weeks ago about it. It say on the bottle to use 2-3ml per gallon but i called nutrilife and they said i could use up to 8 mil per gallon and i did. It took a few days but after a week, all the larvae and adults were dead. It put no stress onmy plants and worked amazing!
I snagged this from another thread.

Just go track down Phatnuggetz and have a chat if any questions. He's the dude's post I copied. Supposedly he has his own thread somewhere but didn't go looking for it.

From what I understand you really need to clone em out of existence and do a thorough cleaning of equipment in hydro. If no plants in the system I'd just about nuke everything before new plants went in.

these are most likely your garden variety aphid. you may have seen them clumped up together in like a mucus. these are mostly dead ones. check your filters on your pumps also. they can really restrict water flow.

I would treat the res with something like SM-90 or dutch master Zone. then bomb the room with a pyrethrin every 3-4 days till they they are gone.

or you can go to pesticides like Merit 75 WP. very effective on aphids.
