Bugs in RapidRooters w/ PIC

Found these little guys crawling all over my rapid rootered clones. None in the rockwool plugs, curiously. I havent noticed any damage, yet. They arent on the plant either. The pic is through a 60x magnifier.

Any bug masters know what it is?

maybe its symphilids.

i had an outbreak of the adove mentioned bugs a while back in my coco grow.

my plants were looking sick for a while with a variety of symptoms and couldnt figure out what was up.

1 day i was in a rush to water my plants and i was pouring water into my pots quite fast and as the water level on top of the coco was rising i noticed what i thought was fine dust siting ontop of the water, but on closer inspection they were infact tiny tiny bugs.

when the water had passed through the coco theses little bugs went straight under the surface.when i went to look at another 1 of my plants to have a look at the roots i put my hand around the bottom of the stem and went to lift the pot a bit and the stem nearly came out of the pot.

thes little buggers were feating on the root system so they are harmfull.you can either treat the problem with gnat off or for the same price but more highly concentrated form something called neudomuk.

i believe the insect described is a springtail, but the pic dont look like one. Springtails live in the roots of ur plant..

They dont like it too wet or too dry. Hydrogen peroxide is a way to get rid of them ive heard.

but i have also heard that they do not do very much harm to a root system over an 8 weeks periode. Thats why i dont worry about them. sometimes there are more.. sometimes less. they even dissapeared and came back.

have fun witem ;)

haha, yeah. They are interesting little guys. I noticed some fungus gnat larvae in the root dissection of a harvested plant so I gave em a good strong neeming this afternoon. I will see what I can see tonight.

Well, for the record, I have not noticed any major damage that they are causing. I never see them on the plant but they chill all over the soil. Neem, at least at the doses I was using (3%-4%), didn't do shit to em.

I figure they are just some stoner mites lookin for a good time :)

If they are springtails, which there is another thread on IC called "pure white bugs" about them, I've had good success almost completely eliminating them with the hot shot no pest strips. I keep them in the grow and run my vent fan 1 hour off, 1/2 hour on, during lights out. I went from having likely 1000's of them to now only being able to find 10 at a time or so.

Thanks for the tip, I think that will help out my current fungus gnat lounge space.

I was thinking to myself, those gotta be some lucky ass gnats to have their whole world be a ganja forest.

im having a problem with a small white insect eating at my roots also. there were none on the plants them selves. it kinda looks like the pic, but im still kinda unsure. i made a strong solution of h2o2 and h2o and i still noticed one in the soil. and then i made a strong solution of h2o and rubbing alcohol and i checked em this morning and there was no sign of them. im not sure if their gone or not. i guess ill just have to keep on checkin. i have the bugs in my juicy fruit clones and blue berry seedlings. their all about 3 weeks old at the moment. hopefully i killed em cuz they have been puttin a hurtin on my plants. :badday:
