how long have they been flowering....how much direct light...what strain...if you are comparing indoor to outdoor they are totally different in the way they grow....plants put on the most weight in the end....some buds look small but yield well...need some info on this grow...maybee a pic

Can't really answer your question until we have more information on your grow. How far along are they? How big? What variaty? Nute regimen, physical description?

As far as many branches with popcorn nugs, there are many factors that can contribute to this.

One way to get bigger fewer buds is to do some training/trimming/pruning while the plant is vegging, and maybe some light lower-branch pruning in early flower.

Here are some threads you should check out:
Pruning lower branches
newb on pruning
it is possible to pruning while flowering stage?
Trimming lower foliage?

The main idea with pruning is you want to get rid of budsites that aren't recieving light. These tend to be the lower budsites on the plant, because they're blocked by upper foliage. The other concept behind it is you want to prune to decrease the number of budsites for the plant to concentrate its growth on, thus ending up with fewer bigger buds instead of more smaller buds.

Steelers just about wrapped it up. You'll find that if you trim em you'll have bigger colas with a lot less BS. I trim the hell out of my plants to get a decent return without the added stress of trimmin off fluff.

here's the trimmed shrub

And here is the colas on her a few weeks later... (pay no mind to that bud in the background it's a different strain in a smaller pot)

I grow in smaller spaces so I'm always pruning and trimming.

Veg:

Light Trim Early in Flower (20 days or so):

Heavily Trimmed in Flower (30 days in):

I mix my main nutes and let them settle for a bit, mix in my additives and let it sit for a few minutes, then finally add a tiny amount of Liquid Kool Bloom... usually 1/4 tsp in soil.

I always take off anything that is below the main canopy. You can pretty much eliminate the popcorn BS this way. The tops are bigger too as you are getting more energy to them. You can tell during the first 2 weeks of flowering what will make it, the rest get whacked. I have read you shouldn't remove budsites after the first couple weeks if you want optimal results, so I make sure to do it in that timeframe.

you'll be happy if you prune those off for real.

Peace - M
Also, LST or scrog is a great way to get larger buds and larger yields by training the plant.

Here's a link to a great thread on LST:LST training in detail. Why bushes are better

Hope that helps! Good luck with your babies! :joint:

CRIKEY... Ok well to be honest i totally forgot when i planted em, i guess the shoots will be in my gallery so ill look there,(put them out at the end of April) nutes,... just in soil/perlite feeding a diluted potassium now theyve started flowering. No forced flowering, just using the elements.
The strain is "the PURE" cant remember where i got them from, which is a shame cos all of the durbon Poisons were males, so i wouldnt use em again! I DID pinch the tops when they were young, but as its mostly a sativa it seems to be quite skinny...
here's some pics anyway.... hopefully im just being impatient... :chin:

Why don't you give us some more details. What type of soil and what is in it? Dol. lime? Your only feeding potassium? No phosphorus, micros, etc... Have you checked your ph? Directions are in my signature. I can see a yellowing leaf in one photo. How many are like that?

Soil was from my local shop, cant remember exactly, mixed with perlite. the potassium is in the form of a generic plant food for blooming, but with a higher potassium % than others. Not many of the leaves are yellowing, i put it down to wind burn as i live in a flippin wind tunnel! (well it seems like it) No i havent checked the PH... to be honest, and im gonna sound really lazy here, but after growing in hydro for the last couple of years i decided to try a maintenence free grow...& see what would happen. The only thing ive done to my girls is spray for mites & trim during veg. I figured that if they were out in the "wilds" they would have a similar treatment... ??

If your not going to take an active part in what goes on with the plant and allow it to live like it is in the wild. Cool. How do you want us to help you further other than acknowledge your buds could be bigger or something?

No problem Core. Do you know how many 1000's of hours I have spent studying plants? Quite a few. I did go to college but most information I got came from the free public library. I suggest you do the same. I don't mind giving out a few answers but it is also up to you to seek out more plant knowledge on your own and enjoy the excitement of learning.

Heya Mosi,
nice to hear you are growing outside. So am I right now :p Midlands here.

Well, I can answer your question but you are really not going to like the answer...

Basically a cannabis plant will start flowering as soon as it gets 12 hours of uninterupted darkness. In the UK, this happened naturally about 2-3 weeks ago.
If a cannabis plant takes 8 weeks to finish, logically it will be done by middle of November. However, the weather is not going to be warm enough for a fully flowering plant by that time. Last year it had already gone below 0 degrees by that time...

So you see the dilemma here. It is possible to grow outdoors in the UK but to do it without your plants falling victim to the weather you need to force flower it sooner than it would in nature. Ideally you want to cover it up at night in july already(giving it 12 hours of darkness) so that your plant will have finished by now already.

Saying all that... I got lazy covering up my plant and well I just let nature take over again this year so my plant probably looks the same as ur right now.

Let us just hope that this year is going to be an extremely warm one for our plants to finish.

ed rosenthal maijuana tips (pdf)
guide of growing marijuana (pdf)
how to grow medical marijuana (pdf)
marijuana how to grow weed (pdf)
tha art en science of cooking with cannabis (pdf) not read

and many many more growguides in my favourites...still it does not tell you all you need to know in practical tips...
i like to learn to calculate NPK .......its quite hard.... i saw your post on that but i cant grasp it (also L and gallons confuses me in that thread).......and if some1 knows a good topic on ppt (parts per 1000) and how to use that...

@MoSi

and how is your plant doing mate...you have to be quick about these things...
give you info ASAP to sproutco and he will try and fix things

No problem. Just ask your questions in that thread in my signature about making your own and I surely will answer them. I bet other icmager's may have some similar questions you have. Might be helpful to them as well.
