Hey everyone. Hope everyone's weed is stayin green or cherried up.
I was really impressed with the Low Stress Training methods explained in Quazi's post here:
Understanding the Art of LST
and decided to try it out. After seeing this diagram:
Easy LST Diagram
I suddenly understood what this bucket lid design was for:
but this first grow is on a tight budget, so even the price of all of that hardware seemed a bit excessive when I was scraping up for meters, buckets and formula. (It would have been MUCH quicker to use that design.)
So instead, I took a piece of wire coat hanger, a candle and bought 6 feet of doorbell wire(which is actually 12 feet of wire) for .21 cents a foot at the hardware store. Total cost: $1.34
Then I heated up the coat hanger piece and poked holes through the lid portion of a snap on basket lid. I went all the way around the top, making a row of holes on the inner edge, in the center and on the outer edge of the lid. Here's how it looked with just the inner row finished:
After finishing all of the rows, I took the doorbell wire, tied a knot in the end and threaded it through the hole. I threaded it into the next hole, stuck a pencil under the loop formed, then tied a knot in the other end from underneath. Then I snipped it, and repeated until they were all threaded. It looked something like this:
(In hindsight, if you don't mind buying more wire, you can save a lot of work by simply threading the wire in and out of the holes, only tying a knot once at the beginning, and once at the end. Repeat that with each row. (Make sure to get about 2.5 times as much doorbell wire or 15ft.))
This is what the final basket lid looked like with my girl Ramba getting comfy in it:
Hope y'all enjoyed the pics and the post.
