budding/trichomes in veg

G

Guest

I was wondering if anyone knew why some strains may show a good amount more budding and trichomes during vegetation. These 2 plants, were under the same conditions, 18 hrs of fluoro and soil indoors. The plant on the left is Blackberry and the plant on the right is sfv og. The Blackberry looks like it really wants to flower. I haven't seen something like this before. It really looks like a good thing though.

Blackberry and a comparison plant

just told you ^^^

its likely if the light cycle never was interupted and its truely on a veg cycle with 18hrs light a day.. then the plant has genes that cause it to 'autoflower' at a certain age instead of when light tells it to. its refered to as 'ruderalis' and is actually quite common now and finds its way into lines. not good for mom setups and cloning.. haha. go read about this trait its interesting.. good luck with making things work for ya. hope you don't have to pull it.

Cool thanks for the info! :) I had to clone it anyhow. I'm just realizing after reading some posts around here that it isnt blackberry the clone, but a cross of black domina and blueberry. I'll try and find out if there is ruderalis in either of those I suppose.

i wouldn't think this would necessarily be considered a ruderalis trait... some sativas begin to flower/pre-flower under 18 or even a full 24 hour light cycle.

just my two cents.

I've had plants that did this and it annoyed me to no end, because of the mom/clone deal. Once they start doing that it seems like they don't stretch much, almost like trying to re-veg, just like flowering plants...I guess it's more common than I thought.

They will take, I cloned a flowering plant recently and it is revegging ok.
I just think that certain phenotypes start showing the female flowers in veg and inevitably don't grow as fast or stretch as much once they start this. Some plants may do fine and not go past a few pre-ovary style flowers, but the one in the pic sure looks like it is flowering heavier than mine did. My experience is that clones with flowers will not stretch as much and take a longer while to veg.

Allright well thats good news. But, now how am I gonna keep this as a mom? was it perhaps the conditions? Id think right off the bat that I had done something wrong to it through my use of soil, since i am so new to soil. especially indoor soil growing. I basically only watered it when it dried out and the pot was light. og plant got the same treatment in every way.

I wonder if it got stressed in some way more so than the OG, maybe a dry spell etc? Was it from a club cut like the OG or was it from seed? Yours looks like it's full on flowering. If I liked the cut enough, I'd make a clone or two and try to reveg it under 18/6 or 24 hours of light just to make sure it wasn't a fluke due to stress or what not....Good luck, let me know what you find!

sbaegis, my blackberry (from Balckberry S1 seeds) does this same thing in veg and my veg space is 24/0. It's not a problem with cloning or continuing to veg, just some small popcorn buds.

It's actually a bonus for me cuase when you put it into flower room, it's start pack on buds right now. Just an autoflowering trait. Don't sweat it..

here's pic of my blackberry at around 38 (it's at 48 right, I need to ake some new pics) peace and good luck to... :joint:

blackberry rocks, why it has a bad rap is beyond me. I have my speculations, but I will keep them to myself.

As for how long, Mines flushing starting at day 49 12/12 (trichs 50% cloudy, 40% clear, 10% purple (yes purple). The trichs will turn more purple if you wait but there's not much more weight or potency to be gained. Keep in mind it will be more mature than others which are flipped at the same time due to the pre-flowering..

good luck... :joint:

I commented on this strain back in September and since I went to a club and picked up the Blackberry Kush too. LOL, I bet it's the same plant! It's cool to compare the two. I read on Weedtracker that indeed it throws out trichs in veg hahah
Mine is vegging at the moment, but too soon to tell, it does veg a little slow.
How is the greenhouse?

I think the one I had just started to flower, and was no longer in veg mode, so it isnt safe to say that it had trichomes in veg. But, after sampling some nugs I believe to be the same plant, it is pretty darn potent in the indica dept with an excellent smell, look, and feel.

Oh yeah GH hogs all chopped and almost dried, a little more manicuring and they are good to go in jars, updates soon. :)
