bud washers

Bud washers! What's the smoke like? Seems like it should be common practice if you've seen the vids. All that gunk . Anyway what's the smoke like from flower consumption perspectives. Seems like great practice for solvent prep to. The only thing I can think of is loosing terps. I'd imagine the flowers are still alive and maybe they are replacing terps as they die? But I'm thinking about it. Sick of the pm funk in my flower, reminds me of east coast basements smells.

This sounds similar to water curing.
I have done water cure off and on for quite a few years.
Fresh buds are put in cool water and the water is changed every six hours the first day and daily after that until the water stays clear.
Fresh cut buds, not day old bud, fresh bud.

All the terpenes are lost as are all water soluble chemicals, including chlorophyll.
The bud comes out weighing a quarter less, an ounce will be 21 grams after the gunk is gone.
Tasteless as well.

With 1/4 the weight gone and all the THC still present, the percentage of THC goes up. If it is 20% to start the water cure will be 37%, an enjoyable increase.

I smoke with a brass steamroller (used to use toilet tissue tubes but brass lasts years) and when the smoke collects in the tube it is volatile. More than once the flame has reached through the bowl and ignited the vapors. The heat can barely be felt but the 'pop' as it goes off is startling. This never happens with regular cured pot, the smokey particles inhibit rapid combustion.
The water cure is THC and cellulose, an explosive mixture.
This purity causes rapid absorption, whiskey versus wine is a good comparison.

Another similarity could be in trimming methods.

Harvests are done with a wet trim, hands and scissors are kept dripping wet by dipping in a large bowl of water next to each trimmer.
One of them began dipping the bud instead of his hands, said it worked better at not getting sticky and losing trichomes.

The dipped bud cured differently as well, darker with more color highlights. Buds were dipped every five to ten miuntes for the hour it takes to trim them.
An improvement in taste as well, some of the harshness is gone while most of the citrus and skunk remains.

My two best guesses at what washing is. Either one improves the bud and make a wet mess of the area.

The smoking I compare to whiskey versus wine.
The reason is how fast it can be imbibed. Take a shot of whiskey, then another, then a third before the first has hit and then all of a sudden drunkenness hits hard.
Same with water cure, three tokes go right down, not a cough in a carload (old cigarette commercial), but twenty minutes later it is nap time.
Water cure teaches discipline, take a toke and wait, usually it is plenty. It is not just the increased THC, it is the sheer volume of smoke going into the lung. Being tasteless and smooth double or even triple the amount is getting in.

Off and on I do the water cure, I smoke too much when it is around. Business suffers.

I would just do a better job of getting the environment correct and eliminate the PM. If it is flowers you are buying, then look elsewhere for better quality flowers.

What was said above about water curing, I have no idea why anyone would use that method.

Sigh! YouTube y'all. Our homie Jorge Cerventes was the 1st. He prepares a rez for dipping, one for rinsing. Djps for 10 mins then rinses a cpl secs after I think. The 1st rez is a h202 dilution. When he's done there is all this yucky stuff left behindTgere are other videos to. One uses a different base solution like citrus acid or something. I know why to try and how to do it, just curious if my icmag peeps can vouche for the smoke. Cervantes isn't by far the be all end all in grow tips, but this one caught my eye a cpl yrs back.
And yeah definitely working to dial in the environment, i will beat the pm!

i wash my veggies...maybe if i had naked female bud washers..now that would be sexy ...i don't see a short dip in cool water hurting anything or loosing significant terps but i don't do it...i tried water curing several times years apart and each time hated it....yeehaw..i guess if my weed was real dirty i would try... but my indoor air is filtered and my outside grows in greenhouse...i don't have mold issues or any funky smells not natural to the genetics...this subject has come up before....

Ok so my washed buds are dry buff to vape with herb iron.....and I think I like it.
One container h202 1 cup per 5 gal of r.o. Wuder. 2 more containers with just r.o.
Dip em in the h202 solution for no more n 10 mins, 4 mins worked for me. We watched our solution get darker and darker, thinking boy we are glad we did that. The solution got real yucky, swapped it out to keep it fresh.
We dipped em in the two other containers , jostled em and hung for 2 days with dehum 1st day and mini a
C. Blasting 70 degree air, canned em small and burped for 6 days and now freezer and some dark closet. I smell no mildew aka the east coast basement funk!.
It was time consuming but it is going into our lungs right?
Naked laddies totally.
