bud leaves dying from the tip inward

howdy.

this has happened a couple times before. i've been using botanicare pro grow and bloom for soil. carbo load, molasses, thrive alive B-1, and hydroplex for flower. i use some of the additives every third watering or so, depending on how lazy i am.

the tips start dying after they have been in flower for awhile. the bubble gum i'm growing has lots of small bud hugging leaves. on a couple plants, they all died. every leaf. this happened over a year ago with another genetic with lots of small leaves and not a bunch of fan leaves.

they are only in 1 gall pots (long story) but i make sure they are not overwatered or underwatered.

i'll be buying all new nutes in a week or so. i'll probably go back to general hydorponics products until i figure out what i'm doing wrong. the local store has some AN additives available. nice! :)

the pictures suck. new camera and i'm not as steady as i thought i was.
you can see the brown vs green areas pretty well.
what do you think?

From the looks of it; looks like nitrogen consumed your whole entire plant. How often were you feeding them and how much? Every 3rd watering does not help; but it does say you were not feeding enough.

This is what is left over if the leaves stay on the plant long enough to suck every last drop from it's leaves before they fall off.

Normal nitrogen issues from the plant just in flower dropping them you do not see this, but when it gets bad it does start to hold onto the leaves; but with him feeding so little looks like it held onto them on and off.

For 1 gal size pot and that big; they are rootbound; another problem; when they are rootbound they need constant atttention if you do not transplant.

Rootbound plants do not absorb nutrients well at all; you can't crowd the roots into a pot and force them to stay there; how would you feel if you had one pair of shoes your whole life????? lol

You check your ph at all?
WHat brand of soil are you using?

How much ThriveAlive are you using in flower?
That's not really a flower additive... I think you overdid it. B1, BC kelp, and no doubt urea too like in the competitor SuperThrive... HOT. Too much N too.
Lay off the Thrives in flower and use bigger pots next time.

Ya, I agree with stinky on the part that they should not be used; they have vitamins and such in them which build up quickly and superthrive is insainly hot!

Should only be used once a month or after a transplant. ANY product that is like superthrive.... thrive alive b1 and such.

howdy.

thanks for the input guys. i had no clue about the trive alive. i'm not sure where i got the idea it was ok to use in flower.

stich, i was actually feeding for two waterings and then no nutes for the thrid watering. i always used at least botanicare bloom during the feedings. what i was saying was that i used the other additives irregularly. i assumed the bloom nutes had enough nitrogen to keep the leaves reasonably well fed. it was also confusing because it didn't happen all the time.

thinking on it, i have been using the thrive alive since this problem first showed up. i will definately cut it out in bloom and do some more reading. i lost 12 years of growing info, passwords etc. when my computer melted down.

i check the ph of the water almost everytime and i use black gold all purpose. i just bought a bunch yesterday and noticed they have changed the formula. it now says "formulated to feed for 6 months". bummer. oddly enough this nursury also carries fox farm soil and giganic bags of perlight. a growers paradise. :)

i also have a very well stocked hydro shop down the street. not a bad place to live. i'm going to switch nutes as i've been using botanicare for quite awhile and want to try something else. i'm thinking of the advanced nutrients (which i used to use) or fox farm this time around.

thanks for the advice, i'll keep it in mind. this current batch of almost all bubble gum will be going into the flower room this weekend. i will never do the one gallon thing again. i actually had so much pot in the house i was worried about another big crop. lol. how cool is that? :)
