bucket question

I am just about to start my first hydro grow. I finally manned up and bought some genetics (no more weird bagseed for me!). I am working on a couple of bonsai mothers now. I want to do a bubble bucket setup and I am wondering about my roots. I have some cheap white buckets and I want to know if I need to protect my roots from my little light any more with duct tape or paint. I know that clear bottles work in a hempy bucket situation, but I am going to have bare roots outside of the net pot. I tried to search for this question, but the forum is a new forum for me.

Put the tape/paint on there.
Algae on the roots is not a good thing.

Agreed reflective tape on the lids helps a lot too. No light leaks !!

A couple of cans of 99 cent black spray paint works damn good. Cheap, easy and you'll have plent left over for touch ups and scrathces.
If you've got the $$ just do what Haps did with the insulation.
