what size air pump is required for a 10 gallon rubbermaid ? which air stones and size for this setup ? I built one and I'm not happy with my work. I sprayed plastic paint to dark res from light. not a good idea, paint flakes off plastic. starting over and will use hole saw for neoprene sites, using dark brown rubbermaid tubs and black tops. tip for others. home depot carries brown tubs and black tops.

I'd suggest a pump rated for a 50 gal aquarium. I use a 60 gal pump for my 12 gal tub, a 10 gal pump for my 2 gal cloner. For airstones, I like the 4-5 inch disks or the 12 inch bars as both are heavy enough to stay at the bottom of the tank without floating up.

thanks man! I went and purchased a pump that is for 80 gallons. I know that sounds like overkill, but I bet it's really for less. I'm now happy with setup . I used white duct tape to cover top. this to me is far better than plastic paint. no flaking. my last question is to submerge cuts or suspend a half inch above water. which is more effective? Personally, I could never get a bubbler to work "correctly" with naked stems and so added rockwool to the unit. See CLONERS- a collection of various methods for further details and other bubbler variations.

While a bubbler is essentially a miniature DWC, DWC uses water temps around 68ºF while a cloner uses water at 75º-80º F. Warm water holds far less O2 than cold water so being extra bubblicious is a good thing.

People will argue that you must "do this" or never "do that". In the end, if you get roots, you did it just right.

Just add Ph'd 6.0 water R/O, some hygrozyme at recomended rates and you get huge thick fluffy white roots. No problem with temp adjustment as without the hygrozyme and I don't even have to change the water just top up with pH'd adjusted. The hygrozyme really helps when temps rise.

Give your moma's plain water for 3-5 days depending on size and then a shot of bloom ferts no nitrogen a day before you take cuts and they will root allot faster. Then give moma good feed after you take cuts.

I use clear containers without a problem. 1gal with 10gal tetra whisper pump (very quiet) and 2 bubble bars 36sites with cell cloner tray cut to the size of my container and for foam i use the 1inch insulation foam and click on Freezer Boys link, very useful and read jjscorpio's thread on cloning also a gd read.

Gd luck
