BTi (mosquito dunks) and beneficial nematodes

I have pretty serious fungus gnat problem, and am going atm with crumbled dunks and sticky traps. Have read + and- with efficacy of dunks. Did use Scan Mask (nematodes) long ago worked fine. I think rather than guess if the dunks will work, I'll get some nematodes. So any knowledge of how Bti might be harmful to the nematodes?

Pretty sure it won't harm them, but check with your supplier. Email/call Buglogical. Good luck. -granger

Bio Works Inc NemaShield uses beneficial nematode Steinernema feltiae. Their MemaShield compatibility chart shows their nematodes are compatible with Bacillus Thuringiensis Israelensis.

I have had to use dunks a few times and they seem to work well. They are not instant but after a couple weeks, no more gnats. I crumble a little on top and also by the drain holes of the flower pot. They are a nuisance so good luck.

I've been adding Mosquito Bits in the top inch (25mm) of my soil because it's easier than crumbling the dunks... they're already crumbled. I also use Microbe-Lift liquid at the rate of 1ml/gallon (1ml/4l). That's 2-4x the recommended amount but a gallon (4l) of this stuff lasts a long time.

I saw no visible result from either BTi or beauvaria bassiana. Steinerama feltiae nematodes were amazing an hour after application a huge number of fungus gnat larvae came up the soil surface to die. Deadly effective. Nematodes are not harmed by BTi. Good luck!
