Brrrr. Cold plants

With the change in the weather, my cab temps have dropped.

Here is what I am working with:

* 4x4 sun hut
* 1 K bulb

Ventilation:

6" vortex pulling through Sealed reflector that is attached to a carbon filter, hung from the ceiling of the hut.

I was originally running a 400w for veg and just venting into the house, now with the K things were getting a little warm (a few weeks ago).

I decided to relocate my fan to the attic and just dump my heat up there.

Now things have gotten cooler and my Highs are 68 - 70 and my lows are around 60.

I bought a speed controller and turned my 6" way down. Helped a little.

Today I have been experimenting with a timer controlling the fan 15 minutes on/15 minutes off. This seems to be helping and temps are 75 - 77.

The only draw back to this is there is no carbon filtration for 15 minutes. Plus I worry about cycling the fan so often.

I do not want to add a heater as all the Btu's would go straight up into the attic.

I know I'm not the only one with this going on....suggestions?

What if you brought the fan back down inside, or just outside of the tent. Then you could very easily unhook the ducting that goes into the attic and hook up a different run of ducting that vents into the house. Does that make sense?

CovertCrops:

I am afraid I will have to bring the fan back downstairs. The grow room is on the other side of my bedroom and it get's a little loud, ya know....6" of fury.

Imagine listening to a roommate bumping his girl for 18/6.

Surfr:

Yeah super low, how do I do that? Can I gang two speed controllers?

I built a insulated box for my fan and you could not hear it run, if thats not possible then try running insulation around the first two feet of duct on both sides of your fan.

Mine was silent, only got attention once a year to clean the dust out of it and to check the for safty issues and leaks.

Ditch the vortex. You should look into Panasonic Whisper Fans or S&P. Also you should forget about speed controllers.

I grow in a garage. Winter temps drop into the 40s. When the cab gets too cold, I cover up one of my intakes. Reduces airflow and cooling both.

Turn the fan on super low?

that works.

ime cold produces solid, purple-er, more resinouse buds.

ive done tests with 65f days-nights. with impressive, but less yielding results.
my plants seam to be enjoying the cold days though... (about 73..)
