Bros Grimm info/history?

ive had the pleasure of growing Cinderella 99 (both Wallyduck's F5s and the feminised ones from the GN Collection) and it still remains my favourite strain - very fast finishing, very frosty, very potent, ridiculous pineapple smell and flavour ... i mean what more can one ask for? :)

But i know nothing about the Brothers Grimm other than what's mentioned in the Big Book of Buds, but thats just their account on C99, not an account on themselves.

So i was just wondering if anyone here could provide some info about who these guys were who brought these incredible genetics to us? (ive only mentioned C99 but then of course there is Genius, Apollo and a few more)

The brothers grimm were known as Mr.Soul and Sly...They brought us lots of things like princess, genious, cafe girl, cindy, and rosetta stone to name a few. Their luck began when they found some seeds in a pack of dutchgrown sensi jack herer. Nobody knows who the boy. peace DLB :joint:

Just to add to the lore.
When i first got into this hobby about 6 years ago they where arguably the premeir breeder out their. I still wish I order some Cinderella 99 from them.
Joey Weed produced F2's of a few of their strains that had good reviews. I think he still sells his gear somewhere.
Good luck.

("MrSoul" of "The Bros. Grimm" is probably most famous for originating "Cinderella 99" aka "Cindy 99")
[as verbatim related in an internet post by "MrSoul"... ]
From a thread named:
"Cubing a Clone", MrSoul's "Cube" theory...
"...Bros Grimm have been employing a method called "Cubing a Clone" to create strains from unique female plants for years now.

A Cinderella Story...

I've been seeing a lot of posts from people asking for the "Cinderella Story", so here it is:
In 1997, I (MrSoul) discovered a few seeds in a bud of Jack Herer I bought @ "Sensi Smile" coffeeshop in Amsterdam while there to buy seeds.
I didn't expect much when I grew them, but one of those seeds from the JH bud produced a very special female that I call "Princess".

Therefore Princess' mother was a Jack Herer (IF we can believe what Sensi Smile printed on the package) and her father is a totally unidentified mystery plant.

I also got 2 more females (Genius & Cafe'Girl) & several males from those seeds.
I used pollen from one of the males on a heavy-yielding, dense, resinous ShivaSkunk (from Sensi Seedbank) female, then grew the resulting seeds to get males to produce pollen to cross Princess with, beginning the cubing process.

The first generation of seeds from Princess were called P.50 because they were 50% Princess.
I used males from the P.50 generation to back-cross to Princess to get P.75 and again back-crossed with the P.75 pollen to get P.88 and again with the P.88 pollen to get P.94 which is "Cinderella 99", a cubed version of Princess.

The name "Cinderella" was chosen because of the parallels between this story and the well-known fairy tale in which Cinderella becomes a Princess despite her humble beginning.

Indeed. She's a special one. Since she one was one of the first few strains I ever grew I didn't know what I had until 20+ strains later I realised she was still my favourite.

How did the GN Cindys compare to Wallyduck's? I hear good things about the latter but bought the GN anyway cause fem seeds make my life much easier in bubblers.

Thanx mate.

I also got into the hobby 6-7 years ago and bought a 5-pack of Bros Grimm C99 from Heaven's Stairway for my second grow. Only 2 survived (newbie mistakes) but one of those was an amazing pineapple pheno that tasted like candy and yielded up to 6oz in my best run from clone.

Sadly, and stupidly, being quite new to the game, I ditched the Cindy mother in search of bigger and better things. I've probably grown 20+ strains since then and I still rank Cindy as perhaps my favourite. I decided it's high time the princess is back in my garden again so I just bought a pack of Gypsy's fem F2s. Can't wait to see the old girl again. I've learned my lesson and won't ever let her escape again. :D
