Broad mite elimination regiment

T

Timm

I don't read many success stories about people beating broad mites... I've currently thrown all plants except small rooted clones away and here is what I've done so far

Day 0 - Dunk in avid with yucca extract wetting agent
Day 5 - Dunk in forbid with yucca extract wetting agent
Day 8 - Foilar spray with OG Biowar and yucca extract wetting agent using distilled water
Day 10 - Dunk in avid with yucca extract wetting agent

I will do another dunk in forbid and after that spray OG Biowar every 4 days

I've read horror stories of avid and forbid not working on BM's... Anyone here successfully eradicated them?

I think pylon is a good product against them. There are many threads going right now on the subject. Good Luck!

Kontos and guardian mite spray did it for me. I thought guardian mite spray was organic, but oh well. It works very well as a contact killer, and I haven't seen those lil shitters since I used it. Hope this helps

Those threads are not very informative. Lots of conflicting information and people bickering about what does and does not work

Guardian mite is basically Avid. Hidden ingredient Abamectin

Did you spray guardian in flower?

Initially I used it thinking it was "organic", but come to find out it wasnt:/ I've been using it strictly in veg now. Basically it's avid, but just has a few extra additives that are natural. Go figure lol. Works wonders though:) Hope this is helps

OK I got a GG4 cut and put it into quarantine. It is spider mite free, but how do you know if a plant has broad mites? What are the signs Timm or anyone?

I know Avid is how you kill them, 2 ml/gallon or 1/2 teaspoon/gallon. Some say 1/4 teaspoon but I use 1/2 on mites. Use 3 times at 3 day intervals.

What are the signs of broad mites?

Leaves curling down taco style, leaves having a rubbery texture to them, slow and deformed growth, leaves showing a lil burn. Best way to tell is using a scope. Avid kills them, but not there eggs. If you're using avid, I'd dip them if there that small. Hope this helps..

For a more eco friendly technique try the vacuum cleaner method. This should get rid of most mites.
Then finish off the rest with predator bugs or try the wipe-off-with-finger technique.

New growth will be yellow and twisted. I got my broad mites from a gorilla glue clone lol

Best way to confirm is get a scope 60-100x. Better yet just throw the plant away carefully no clone is worth the havoc that broad mites will reek in your garden and the amount you'll have to spend getting rid of them

Look on the underside of leaves for crawlers or eggs. Google broad mite eggs they are elliptical and have small bumps all over them. Spider mites are tame compared to BM's. I made the mistake of not quarantining a clone and it fucked me over. Avid will not get the eggs so be aware of that also some mites are resistant to avid due to it being used improperly.

Where did you get the clone?

Lol this method is utter bullshit and would never work for broad mites.

This is how I believe you can beat them. Even though I have not managed to fully get rid of them yet

Use a combination of heat and strong miticides and OG Biowar

These things need multiple methods of attack. Avid/Forbid... add Pylon if you're willing to spend a lot of cash

You will never get rid of them organically... no matter what anyone says.

Thanks Oliver and Timm. I got the clone in my state WA from a friend. His plants don't have any symptoms at all and mine don't either but I have heard these broad mites are the plague, so I am just being careful.

I guess the russet mites are similar in how they make the leaves curl. Cabron has some great pictures here -
