Brita Filtered Water

Hello,
Is Brita Filtered Water The Same As RO? Can Brita Water Do Harm To MJ?
I've Been Having A Problem With 1 Plant (White Widow) For About 2 Weeks. It's In A 10 Gal. DWC. I've Got 1-THE HOG & 1-CH9 Female Mix In A 20 Gal. DWC. They Are Fine. Oh All Have Been In Flowering For 3 Weeks? All Are In Brita Water.
I've Enclosed Pics.
Any & All Help Would Be Great. Without Help The W.W. Will Die Before I Can Harvest It. This Is Basically My First Plant & Grow That Would Have Actually Finished.

Thank You
Longhair

Is Brita Filtered Water The Same As RO? Can Brita Water Do Harm To MJ?
No and yes.
It's not the same as RO as I believe RO removes more elements then a Brita filter.
It can cause harm the same way RO can in that the water has no nutrients at all.
You'll want to add micro nutes or at least a Cal Mag type fert.

I'm not sure if you're having a PH issue or if it's over fertilized as that can causes those brown spots.

I'm kinda new to this so I'd wait to here from someone with more experience then myself.

Can you fill out the questions, there is more than one thing wrong going on, eno is correct about the RO and brita filters, RO does filter everything out and no micros

Brita only takes out heavy metals and few toxins, but still allows a lot to go through.
Most of it, is just carbon filtration.

Brita will not remove micros.

I need more information, you do look like you have magneisum problem, but there is more going on than just this.... did at some point in time one of the leaves touch your light?

What is the pH of the "Tank"?
I Get It Down To 5.2 Then In A Few Hours It's Up To 6.7-7.0

This is because the plants are removing nutrients from the water and the pH is rising, your nutes are acidic which is what you want, because you need a lower pH in hydro.

6.7 to 7.0 is too high of a swing; first you need to get some micronutrients; the bloom you got is not enough, and it seems your water is on the soft side.

Have you tested the pH of your water right out of the tap? Your plants are also stretchy from the light being too far away.

You need to get some micronutrients, get some cal mag, the spotting effect you see if from lack of calcium, the leaves razor edges are affected and tan, which means your plants are short on calcium as well. Your nturients has trace elements, but they are not enough for your strain.

Your water is on the soft side so you will need micronutrients. Get a hold of some cal mag and increase your nutrient solution to around 500-600 ppms that includes food and calmag together.

Keep the pH to 5.5 to 6.2 do not let it go past this, if it does you use pH adjusters to being the pH down, rather than using nutrients as a pH adjuster, because if you do; you will end up burning your plants.

PS. It Was Pointed Out That The Difference Between Tap & Brita Water Was Basically Nothing. Maybe I Need A New Filter. I Think I'm Going To Go Back To RO Water From The Machine At The Store. Now To Find $2.50!

Hello,
I Want To Thank You For Your Time & Knowledge!!
I Understand About PH Ranges. Like I Said I Can Drop Or Raise It To Any Level. But A Couple Hours Later It's 7.3. Right Now These Are My Reading At 12:00 AM Pacific Time.

Rez
PH-7.3
PPM-1 67 X10 Looks Like There Is A Space Between The 1 & 6.
Tap
PH 7.3
PPM 377
Brita
PH 7.3
PPM 341

I Know That The PPM Should Not Be That High. If I Change The Rez With PH'd Brita Water With No Nutes Is A Good Idea To Do Now?

Is Cal/Mag A Brand Name? How Do I Use It? What MicroNutes Should I Get & How Much Do I Use?
There's A Problem. I'm On A Fixed Income Of $1315.00 (Because Of My Brain Tumor & Being Blind), Off The Top My Rent Is $900. I Don't Get My Next Check Till Oct. 3. More Than Likely She'll Be Dead By Then & There Goes My Meds.

The Only Thing I Have Access To Is Dyna Gro Grow & Bloom. Also Some Old Miracle Gro. Are There Any House Hold Remedies?

Thank You
Longhair

If you are having problems with pH, then you should get a RO system. Tap water if it's hard, can give great difficulty to the grower when it comes to growing hydro with hard water, this is due to high micronutrient content that causes the pH to stay in the high range.

RO water you have full control of what you want to put in it.

Yes, cal-mag is brand name, I think it's by grow tek now if I remember correctly.

If you get that, use 1 tsp per gallon of water.

Right now the problem is your having lockout due to the pH not staying stable. even though the nutes are there... the plant cannot absorb them due to the high pH..... if you want to grow hydro you must use different water.

Hydro with a fixed income can be difficult, because there are things that you need to make it expensive if you want to grow correctly.... you got your water temps you gotta worry about, air to the roots, PH TDS pen hydro nutes and changing out the res weekly having to get a RO system or haul in lots of water if you can't use tap... it's a lot of work.

If your blind how are you typing? Man, I am sorry to hear about you having a tumor man; that scares me when I hear about stuff like that, because with all the chemicals we are subjected to due to corporate greed, our chances of getting cancer before old age are very high :(

Do you have any idea what may have caused yours?

Have you thought about growing in soil? What made you choose the system you are growing in now?

Brita filters do nothing but filter out heavy contents in your water, that's it. They do not filter out micronutrients like RO systems do. They get out lead, mercury, etc.... , but most of them is carbon filtration which it's very limited

Longhair, as well as Stitch's excellent advice, I spotted a couple of possible issues...

What is the distance to the canopy?
6.5 Feet

....this is a lot of distance between the lights and the plants, 3 foot would be more like it and still very safe, most ppl run it much closer than that and often have heat/burn issues.

You also mention having no extraction, just oscillation ... not a good idea as the plants eat all the CO2 and then sit there in effectively stale air doing little, likewise, if you stick a Tropical Fish $20 heater/thermostat in the DWC res you will stop the temps going down to a level that may cause problems. Just make sure you stick a thermometer in there and check the real temps, do not trust the gague on the side of the heater. This is true for all heaters/thermostats, check what they well you ! Sitting your DWC on a slab of Polystyrene can help stop cold floors from reducing temps so much.

Good luck.

Pardon my ignorance, but isn't nitrate/ammonical nitrate - which is in your grow nutes, very very bad for you, let alone the plants? Or is it just ammonium?

I Misunderstood A Few Questions.
The Plant Is 3ft. My Light Is Approximately 12in. From Top Of Plant, I Have Done The Hand Thingy About The Distance.
I Try To Keep The Rez Temps In The 50s-Mid 60's (Using Frozen Bottles) Reason: I Spent Days Searching & Asking At Many Forums The Best Temps & Thats What I Picked Up.
When Plant Was Young We Had A Heat Wave. Rez Temps Would Get As High As 85+. I Nursed Her Through That. She Has Been Through Allot & Came Back Fantastically!! But Now I Don't Know.
About The Fans I Know I Need An Exhaust & Intake But That's Impossible For Some Time.

Thank You For Your Help & Time!

not to mention slowing down the metabolism of the plant....

also, raise the light if you can, a foot above the canopy is pushing it at the best of times, let alone when your ladies are feeling a little bit stressed.

I dunno, the leaves hanging low like that, they may be overwatered too. Do you let the pots get fairly light between waterings?

Yeah cal/mag, you can boil some epsom salts in water (I think 1/4tsp per gallon is the typical dose, someone correct me pls if wrong) and add that to your res, should help a lot and its very cheap.
