Well put 'em back up,Lol.We'll never learn the answer if you don't ask. :spank:

I just jerked a male after progeny testing showed that he passes on a hermie trait. But this one plant turned out to be something I would like to see again. This pheno is a dead ringer for the Mom yet she went full blown hermie. What should I expect from this one seed batch, all hermies from the father or should there be some phenos that lean to the mothers side that will not hermie?
Peace

So after reading this thread I am more confused then I started.

From what I can see if you cross 2 IBL's call them A + B (regardless of who is male or female)

You will wind up with something like 50% A+B , 25% A, 25% B?

What if A + B are both already crosses and NOT IBL's or one of the plants is a cross and the other is more of an IBL?

The reason I ask is I have what should be an IBL strain, at least from what I understand. (DJ shorts orig blue berry)

I grew out a pack of 10, none of the female plants had the signature blue berry smell at all during flower or after the cure. One clone that I saved of the females had a very nice high, but smell and taste that I don't care for. Not fruity in any way.. and I have already tried growing this same clone many different ways (less feeding, 100% organic, 100% chemical, always the same smell/taste)

What I did purely out of curiosity was cross this clone I have of the orig blue berry with a male Apollo 11 that was VERY smelly (in a good way) and had awesome growth and was sativa leaning.

So I have 2 scenarios that can play out in my cross right?

Offspring could be 50% of a combo of the BB female traits and the Apollo 11 traits, then 25% would be like the mother, 25% would be like the father expressed in female form?

What would be the scenario if either my female or my male were crosses to start with?

The reason I ask is I almost wonder if the pack of 10 DJ shorts blue berry were not crossed properly to begin with, if it is an IBL out of 6 females I had of a pack of 10 should express the signature trait it is marketed under right?

The reason I am even doing this, is because I was hoping I might wind up with some offspring that actually had the signature blue berry smell from the genes. I spent over 150.00 and had none.

Thanks

hi friends, i polinated less than 10 days ago with some BGS from doc chronic seeds that is an old style afghani with a BGS female , a diesel female and a zamal female , just to have some different beans to play with, i'll sprout 20 off each cross and try to find good mothers and mabe a good crossed father .

Cheers guys.

.WB.

biggiesmall female at 32 days 12/12 or so and polinated 10 days ago

theres a chance there will be some non-hermie plants in there!

  • yes
  • you should see more variation.
  • yep 2 cases
  • yes 50 mix 25 bb 25 a11 as female. same for males.
  • If they were crosses there will be many more variations
  • If they used a male or female that wasnt the ideal BB its good for genetic diversity but bad for the BB smell you want.
  • so you might not see that one killer plant in 10, i have seen it take 3 packs(30 total) to find the real deal plant from seeds

Thanks so much for answering my questions.

I guess I should be buying at least 3 packs of whatever I have hopes for.

In my opinion they should just sell 30 seeds in a pack for less money if there really is that much variation even in a strain that is considered an IBL.

I am glad to know that a female plant that you don't like can make plenty of offspring that you might totally like. The male appollo 11 pollen I had was the very last of the Apollo 11 I had so chances are I will be able to experience some more Apollo 11 through the offspring of this BB clone I did not care much for. (With the possibility of some extra positive BB features that were not expressed in this clone)

One other question that I had related to crosses which I would still consider beginner because it is so easy to do:

Selfed plants using coliadal silver or that silver solution.

If you take 2 clones of the same female, and then take one of the clones and treat her with either solution to induce male parts then pollen(this is after verifying you do not have a female that will produce balls under stress)
What will the possible offspring be?

Would this not be the best method to capture the traits you want in offspring or not?

A1 + A2 = 50% are mix of a1 and a2, 25% are like a1 and 25% are like a2, since a1 and a2 are the the same plant would that not mean that almost 100% of the offspring would be like the orginal? If that is the case, for personal reasons why backcross if you are not going to be releasing these seeds?

I just can't see it being that simple, if it was why take all the time to do backcrosses if you are not doing this for a breeding project that will be released to the public in seed sales or something.

  • hermies or 100%females or females that easily go hermie.
  • it works. but its labor intensive. Traits can be lost so it might not be just like mom.
  • 50% original, some might be weird-depending on what traits are lost and what ones become dominate.
  • when you back cross you get to keep traits and avoid genetic dead ends.

Hi got a quick question :

I have a strain at hom called nederzaad 2005*2006 , it's one of my favorite smokes cuz of the big buds and the good effect.

Thisn strain is a cross between nederzaad 2005 and nederzaad 2006.

I got the nederzaad 2006 seeds
the 2005 seeds
and the 2005 X 2006

The breeder of nederzaad has died and i would like to keep this strain alive.

What should i do?

Should i make seeds with 2005*2006 plants?

Of should i just cross the mother and father again(the n2005 and the n2006)

What would be the best way to get the same weed/seeds/strain?

It's important that it stays the same!!!

I would take the best female based on buds/potency then the most vigorous/stinky male of the 2005 and 2006 seeds. Take the female from the one plant you want to keep yours looking like. Then cross it back to the 05-06 cross. Make sure to use a variety of pheno's(or profiles) to keep from losing traits or hitting dna dead ends. To do this so what I stated above then cross the end result with other seeds from the same batch with different traits. Then you can keep the dominate ones there and not lose the others.

K ty for ur answer.

So if i make a f2 (2005X2006 X 2005X2006) i will not have the same weed/ plants?

grts

if you make f2's then f3's then f4's you'll have an IBL. thats what your are looking for.

Allright then i am going to make an ibl out of the existing n2005*2006 strain.

So i am gonna make a few generations with the n2005*2006 seeds instead of recreating the strain using the same strains as mother and father(and risking ending up with something else.

This means i will have my work cut out for the following year :rasta:

Thx for answering my questions

thanks everyone a good read indead.

i may be back soon with a few questions once i get a good alittle further into my first cross and have re and reread the basics. i have much seed testing ahead looking for most recessive male from recent cross to clones. 2x female clones to 3 different fathers from unknown strain with desirable traits. Cracked about 10 of each of my first pick Male#3 crosses, so far germed well noted the difference in seed appearance round and not so maby even some yellow dumby leaves.

10x M3 x bigbud
10x M3 x White rhino
1x M3 x white rhino 1/11/08 14 days flower atm

the single seed i popped for an early look ^^ M3 x WR 1st of Nov is currently flowering luckily was female and is now along side the white rhino cut for comparison. I know its earliest of days
